The silence, broken only by the low hum of the flickering tube light, was oppressive.
Fear crept like poison under the skin of the three men shackled in the cell.
They weren't used to silence. Not the kind that preceded a storm.
Ranjit's eyes narrowed, scanning every inch of the woman standing before them.
This wasn't the Nandini they had crushed with boots and broken with fists.
This was something else entirely. They knew. But now experiencing.
Something terrifying.
"You're making a mistake," Subham Chettri finally said, his voice shaky but louder than he felt.
"I'm a legal advisor. You can't kill me. You'll have to face consequences-serious ones."
His voice gained a hint of confidence as he added, "I was with a reputed firm. You don't know who I used to work for-"
A slow clap echoed through the chamber, cutting his words in half.
The sound was feminine, precise, and laced with cruel amusement.
High heels clicked sharply against the dungeon floor as a tall, striking woman stepped through the threshold.
Volcanic beauty, with jet-black hair cascading over one shoulder and blood-red lipstick that matched the fire in her eyes.

Subham's face went pale. As well as Rishi's.
"Oh no," she cooed mockingly, "You were with a reputed firm? Darling, you used to fetch coffee in my firm."
She stepped closer, her eyes glinting with cruel delight.
"I hope you remember me well, baby boy. Naina Kapoor. Ring a bell?"
Subham stuttered, his throat drying up as his eyes darted toward Nandini, then back to the woman now circling him like a lioness.
"You forged my signature once. Remember that? Got away with it because I was 'too busy' to drag you to court. And also what not but anyways Congratulations, you just made the worst mistake of your life."
She bent down, her voice dropping to a sensual hiss.
"And don't worry. If you die here-which, trust me, I'll personally enjoy watching-I'll make sure to close your case myself. No paperwork will survive, no legacy left to cry over. I'll bury your existence in law the way you tried to bury hers in blood."
She stood up with a smirk that could curdle milk.
"And since you love talking legal jargon so much, here's one for you-premeditated consequences, sweetheart. Yours."
