~~~Y/N POV~~~
When I got back home, the house was strangely silent.
"Max! Billy! Mom!" I called, my voice echoing through the empty rooms. No answer, just the same heavy silence.
I walked into our room and noticed a sticky note on my bed.
'Sleepover at Eleven's—you can come if you want.'
I blinked at it, trying to process. I remembered her address, and honestly, I had nothing better to do... so why was I even hesitating?
Grabbing my bike, I sped off toward Eleven's place. Normally, I'd have taken my skateboard, but the distance made it impractical. I reached her yard and carefully stepped over the emergency trespasser alarm before knocking on the door.
The door swung open and I nearly flew backward.
"You know, guys, you should really put security cameras so you know who you're throwing a tree at," I said, rubbing my head. Eleven peeked out from the doorway, and Max followed right behind.
"Oh, sorry, Y/N. We didn't know who it was," Max said apologetically.
"Now I know you weren't listening," I muttered, stepping inside with them.
Later, I found myself on Eleven's bed flipping through magazines while Eleven sat beside me, completely absorbed. Max was on the floor, bobbing her head along to the music.
"You must be an angel, I can see it in your eyes," Max sang along to Angel.
I looked up just in time to hear Max exclaim, "Oh, you found Ralph... Macchio!"
"Macchio?" Eleven asked, clearly confused.
"Yeah, he's the Karate Kid," I said.
"Hi-ya!" Max pretended to karate chop the air, and both Eleven and I burst out laughing.
"He's so hot, right?" Max gushed, leaning forward.
"I bet he's an amazing kisser too... uh... is Mike a good kisser?" she added, glancing at Eleven.
"I don't know... he's my first boyfriend," Eleven murmured, glancing down.
"Ex-boyfriend," Max corrected gently. Eleven's face fell slightly, but Max reached over and nudged her shoulder.
"Hey, don't worry about it, okay? He'll come crawling back to you in no time, begging for forgiveness," Max assured her with a confident grin.
"Wait! when did this happen? They broke up?" I asked, genuinely curious.
"Yeah, we broke up with them because they were treating us like trash. Right, El?" Max asked.
"Yeah," Eleven confirmed softly.
"I guarantee you, him and Lucas are, like, totally wallowing in self-pity and misery right now. They're like, 'Oh, I hope they take us back.' God, what I wouldn't give to see their stupid faces right now!" Max exclaimed, throwing her hands up dramatically.
Eleven looked down at the floor, a mischievous smile tugging at her lips.
"What is it?" Max asked, leaning closer, curiosity piqued.
-------------------
El then sat criss cross on the floor, putting on a blindfold while Max had the radio set to static.
"Is this really going to work?" I asked, glancing at Eleven. She gave a small nod, focused and calm.
"Holy shit, this is insane-" Max started, but Eleven's stern voice cut her off.
