Rise of the Serpentine (Cole x Reader)

chapter 2 Home Part 3/3

“He’s under their control.” Zane explained.

“Yeah, well he better snap out of it quick, because this whole place looks like it’s about to go down.” Jay stated the obvious. “Okay, now come on, friends don’t hit friends.” Jay said, but was kicked in the face by Cole. “Okay, I’m going to ignore that.” he said, rubbing his face.

Cole used The Scythe of Quakes to cut a part of the roof off, right beside where Kai was standing.

“What are we supposed to do?” Kai asked. “If I use my sword, this place will go up in flames faster than a tinderbox.

“Isn’t the antivenom in the staff?” Zane asked.

“Yeah, but the staff is back at the monastery.” Y/n said, dodging one of Coles punches, which made it fry into Kai, punching him off the roof.

Zane quickly grabbed Kai's foot, and pulled him back up. “Jay, use your lightning.” he suggested. “Try to shock him out of his trance.”

“Sorry, Cole.” this is going to hurt you alot more than it’s going to hurt me,” Jay said, pulling out his nunchucks. He then zapped Cole, making Y/n wince. 

“Did it work?” Jay asked, but was answered by Cole grabbing him, and throwing  him off the roof.

Thankfully Jay grabbed a hanging vine before hitting the ground. Jay swung and landed on the other side of the tree house, causing the whole thing to shift over to that side.

“That is a serious safety hazard.” Jay complained, after regaining balance.

Cole quickly turned around to run up the rope to cut it, while the other ninja yelled at him to stop.

“No! Cole Don’t!” Y/n yelled.

“No. no, Cole No!” Kai yelled

Cole was about to cut it, but stopped when Sensei Wu and Nya came flying in on Flame, playing something on a flute. 

“Huh? Where..? Where am I? What are we doing?” Cole asked. 

“We’re getting out of here, because this whole place is coming down.” Nay yelled at them. The ninja all ran off the tree house, and jumped on to Flame, who quickly flew away.

“That flute.” Cole started, but was interrupted by Jay.

“It cancels their powers.” Jay finished Cole's sentence for him. 

“It’s as old as the Serpentine themselves.” Sensei Wu explained. “But we must hurry, the monastery is unguarded. Quickly!”

Once they got back to the monastery, everything was ablaze.

“We’re too late. Those snacks.” Kai said angrily.

They quickly got down, to let the dragons out, so they wouldn’t get burned.

“Our home.” Kai said.

“Shard, put this out.” Zane told his dragon, which he did, turning everything on fire, to ice. “The training equipment, gone.”

“Our video games, gone.” Jay said, running up behind Zane, latching himself to his friend.

“They stole the staff back.” Sensei Wu said.

“What do we do now?” Cole asked, frustration looming in his voice.

“If you hadn't followed that silly bird, none of this would have happened.” Kai yelled at Zane.

 “Kai.” Sensei Wu said.

“No, Sensei. He’s right.” Jay started. “Because of you, my high score has been delighted.”

“Are You Seriously Complaining About Your High Score!?” Y/n yelled at Jay, having to be held back by Cole, so she wouldn’t hurt Jay. “Some Of Us Don’t Have A Good Home, Or Even A Home To Go Back To!” 

“This is a teaching moment, we must learn from this.” Zane stated.

“A teaching moment? What is wrong with you!?” Cole said, now being restrained by Y/n, instead of the other way around. “Everything Is Gone!”

“Enough!” Sensei Wu called, “we are all at fault. Zane is your brother. Apologise at once.”

“I’m sorry, Zane. I…” Kai said, turning around, to find Zane was gone.

“Zane?” Jay asked, they looked over, to see Shard flying off, with Zane on his back.

“What are we eating again?” Kai asked.

“Ugh. mud newt. Not bad for something that lives underground.” Cole explained.

“What!? Aha! Eww!” Jay complained, throwing the mud newt on the fire. He then threw a rock, which landed in a can. “Yeah! A new high score.”

“Remember, we must be grateful for what we still have.” Sensei Wu said.

“What do we have?” Cole asked. “Our home is gone.”

“You know, I don’t miss our home. What I really miss is Zane.” Kai explained.

“Yeah, I miss Zane.” Jay said.

“Zane?” Y/n asked.

“Yeah, Znae.” Jay said. “You know. White ninja? The smart, strange one?” 

“No, Zane!” Y/n explained, pointing behind them, revealing Zane.

“Zane!” they all yelled, with joy.

“Oh, Zane. We’re so sorry for everything we said.” Jay apologised. “We’re a team, and that means we’re all responsible.”

“You don’t need to apologise to me.” Zane said.

“But what about all those awful things we said?” Kai asked. “Isn’t that why you left?”

“Of course not.” Zane said. “I saw the falcon again, and I followed him.”

“That's our Zane.” Cole said.

“We’re happy to have you back.” Nya said, for the rest of the ninja.

“Why? Is it my turn to make dinner?” Zane asked, making everyone laugh.

“Yes, Zane. we would love for you to make donner.” Sensei Wu said.

“But I already made it.” Zane explained. “Come, I want to show you what I have found, I think you will be pleased.”

After walking in silence for a bit. Zane stopped to face them.

“”I can't explain it, but I have a strange connection with the falcon. I think he’s trying to help show us the path we need to take.” Zane explained. “Our new home.” he said, turning around.

“My goodness.” Sensei Wu said in disbelief, as he looked at a ship, partly embedded in the sand.

“Oh, so cool. Do I smell pie?” Jay asked.

“Cobbler breezy.” Zane announced, “oh, and I made myrtle berry, and apple, and pumpkin.”

Jay took a big whiff, before shedding a tear. Then quickly running off with the other ninja to the ship, where Zane said dinner was.
