Chapter 1: An unfortunate situation

You are a japanese man in your 40s, you work in a manga company as a script writer- you always enjoyed manga as a little kid since you father was a famous mangaka before his passing- you kept all his books in a bookshelf and even had unreleased volumes that never hit the shelf. You enjoyed your quiet life, there was nothing dragging you down apart from the fact that you always wanted a wife.

You were heading out on your day off, you had a friend to meet since he was going to a dinner with a co-worker and his girlfriend and didn't want to be an awkward third wheelm you two made the excuse that you were both heading somewhere after and might aswell stop and have the dinner as a plus one. You headed through the busy city streets until you met up with your friend at a crosswalk, he was a bit younger than you and was your junior throughout all of middleschool and highschool- he basically followed you everywhere up until you were adults.

The two of you reminisced, calling back on the good times as he looked embarrased at you mentioning what he was like when he use to idolise you- you remember him being a good kid and never got into trouble partially because you influenced him to keep studying, he stayed dedicated to his work even as an adult and now he had a junior looking up to him. You arrived at the meeting point together, the junior and his girlfriend there- they thanked your friend as you sat back and smiled, he introduced you as his inspiration growing up which made you laugh nervously, you introduced yourself and the boy recognised your name on a lot of manga since it was always credited to you as your ideas since it was despite you not doing the drawing.

You laughed along as you heard stories of your friend from his junior before a scream shook you all up, you saw a man running your way with a knife and tried to block his way but were too slow and you had to watch as he hit your friend, you looked in shock and moved to catch him as he fell- bleeding out, you unfortunately moved in front of a cop's line of sight just as he tried shooting the man with a knife. You felt your body jolt as the bullet entered your head, falling to the ground as the last bits of life faded from your eyes
