I had finished devouring the last slimy morsel of the kraken, it's powers fading as my wounds now close- it seems the remedy for it's powerful inky curse was it's own death; a frightening power for something so strong to possess. I slowly realised that if my injuries now healed then so should Rimuru's- I didn't bother to wait for another second as I rushed to the surface and began to change from my dragonic mantle into the more humanoid one people were accustom to.
Sat gallantly on a pile of rubble pushed aside was Rimuru himself, looking better than ever, as he smirked and gently slid down from the throne of debris and joined me by my side; I gently lay my hands on him and checked every angle to make sure he was not injured in anyway, his face seemed as soft as always and decorated perfectly with those brilliant bright eyes- it pleased me knowing he was ok and that nothing else should befall us before we return. I spent the later hours of the night restoring the park to it's former glory, using a large amount of magicules to set up layered barriers over the span of the resort and commanding a huge amount of lesser and mid tier spirits to rebuild the collapsed structures; Rimuru wanted to help but couldn't control spirits to the level I could and reduced himself to merely a spectator or cheerleader for that matter, shouting words of encouragement and partially cringy remarks about ones appearance during tedious labour.
The morning arose, a radiant cascade over the shaded horizon- a golden dawn brings promise of new days. Rimuru shuffled in his seat which caught my attention; his flowing blue hair and hope filled eyes glittered in the daylight's grace as he smiled as so captivatingly in my direction, my heart asunder and my head slowly rising with a dragon's breath- ones face seemed to glow a faded and reluctant red as I turned away in bashful abandon causing the melodic laughter I wake for to escape it's peaceful slumber from Rimuru's lips.
Rimuru: " Honey, are ya ready to go home now! "
You: " It seems my presence is not needed here for now, we shall return at once as there may be more lurking around us waiting for the drop of a hat to signal something greater "
Rimuru seemed confused, a puzzled expression furling along his brow as his finger beat his chin- it seemed he had his eyes locked on my face but what in the heavens for? I yearned to ask for an answer to this inquiry but deemed it impertinent to do so. His finger halted as the puzzled look faded and lay the path for another look of amusement to grace his fine features.
Rimuru: " My love~ how human would you say you are? "
You: " A complex dilemma to answer for sure but a proper demeanour states one should answer? In my not so esteemed verdict, one may say that I am somewhere between a man and monster but not one so cruel as the other "
Rimuru: " Knew it? "
You: " what, may I inquire, did you know? "
Rimuru: " You're getting old! "
You: " that is grandly impertinent and foul my dear, one does not ask for the beautiful passage of time to be a stage of judgement- through what agency did you come to such conjecture? "
Rimuru: " A dragon's physical age is represented by their mentality, Milim told me that since you have no set physical form you take on that which represents you the most- as you change in both emotion and mentality so does your appearance and thoughts; Milim looks childish because her mind is free, open and childish- you're starting to look like a dilf and grow grey hairs because you're maturing and becoming more strict and stern in your ways "
You: " The thought had never crossed my mind, what a wonderous folly of mine to abstain from such knowledge! Are your words not honey soaked? Does your tongue fork? "
Rimuru: " No I'm Not lying, have a look in a mirror or in the water dummy "
I could not believe the sweet symphony that befell my ears, surely if my mind had matured to such a major degree then I had changed aswell- surely it must have been after the fight with the beast of the sea; my mind has felt much calmer and clearer since that series of events?
My eyes gazed upon the crystalline water, watching ripples shake the surface before my eyes met another's- my mind refuted the fact that the eyes were mine and mistook it for someone below the surface staring up but slowly it began to accept the truth and notice the movements as the same; my face had truly changed after so long of stagnation and now after so long it feels like I have become wiser and matured, grey hairs graced my face as a sign of superior wisdom and gave a sense of pride one should envy.
I reformed my stance with a regal demeanour, hands pursed behind my back as I glid across the floor with royal authority that even the ground respected- Rimuru's eyes met mine as it seemed he had only taken in the change of appearance and his soft pale face soon began to warm and redden along the cheeks.
Rimuru: " Choke me... "
You: " That would be an act of violence I do not wish to allow to befall you my dear "
Rimuru: " What if I like it "
You: " an act of violence is the same whether it draws blood or arousal "
Rimuru pouted rather childishly, should immaturity was a commodity as it showed his freedom of mind- I allowed my hands to be graced by his body as his small stature was hoisted firmly into my arms allowing my mighty wings to unfurl and stretch out into open space, they shuddered then shook and soon allowed us to take off into the sky and face the on coming storm that brewed above tempest.
