Racing hearts and raging flames, eyes burning with passion and pride a like. You and Milim stood steadfast against one another as your evolved form of wrath started to trump her's- flames glowing brighter than the stars as you smirked and began to form an appropriate stance against your other world mother.
Milim: " Tell me (Y/N)! Why did you leave tempest?! "
You: " Do you know what it's like to be ignored despite the work you put in mother? "
Milim: " Can't say I do but I can see why you're annoyed "
You: " Surprisingly mature response from you "
Milim: " You are my darling son, coming to me for help after all this time "You: " You flew here, we're about to fight anyway so stop talking and lets get this over with before Walpurgis begins "
Milim: " A fight is just another form of conversation son, you'll be good to learn it "
You shut your mouth, putting your tongue back away from your teeth as Milim began the fight by rushing in first before you had a chance to prepare an attack- she was fast but that's what a demon lord should be, her swing was wide allowing you to dodge to the side as her cataclysmic fist came flying down into the floor and cracked the ground where you once stood; it wasn't deadly but it would hurt like hell if she hit you. You took the chance to strike her before she could stand, swinging your arm back towards your chest as you went for a normal jab at her unguarded side whilst she attempted to stand back up.
Milim smirked at you as your fist closed in on her side, a bright light came from her stomach area as she leant over- her hand was primed under her and aiming at you with a beam of light; you had to divert your speed away from the jab and focus it to the side allowing you to narrowly throw yourself out the way as the beam of light flew past and left a searing wound on your leg just above the ankle, Milim seemed annoyed that you had dodged but fair was fair.
You went in for another attack from your new angle, rushing her once she stood upright again; you began to close in on her, she was right in view and wide open for an attack- you felt a surge of energy through you as you grinned and felt the fingers that formed a fist clench tighter and reel back, you kept moving forwards as wings of fire blazed on your back in a Valkyrie's dash towards the demon lord. You were moments away from landing a successful blow on Milim, your heart began to pound and your mind began to scream at you to pull away; was it instincts telling you to avoid something? No, it was more... desperate, like a cry or a plea as you jumped back from your attack and abandoned the prime shot you had on Milim. What was making you react in such a way? Why did it feel like something was begging you to abandon the attack? Your mind began to race more, the pounding of your head and heart mixing with the searing pain from your leg that was slow to heal felt like pure agony that you hadn't experienced in a long time.
Milim: " Guess it does still work on you? "
You looked up at her with confusion, what was she on about? You began to speak, the air preparing in your lungs for the ability to speak when suddenly you were cut off with the answer to your already awaiting question.
Milim: " I mean my skill, Familial Bond.. surprised someone as strong as you still cares for family "
You: " What cheap trick did you just pull? "
Milim: " Nothing much, just a quick tug- used your own emotions to convince you not to attack your own mother, you didn't even try resist the effect! "
You were shocked, she wasn't your real mother but still she was able to try command you... no more like she was able to convince you not to attack her, she was grinning ear to ear as she began to charge more magicules to deliver an attack, you had to think... thinking made you realise something, she was happy that she played with your emotions, she manipulated you... she used you.... a searing pain was still there but it began to swallow you, it's source much deeper than a flesh wound as it was but a scratch, the flood of pain came from something much deeper, much further below the surface and something much more pure than injury or rage; it was a feeling still human in nature, a feeling that lay inside you always threatening to swallow you.. something you needed to overcome in order to finally set yourself free from the human chains that bound you to the past.
