Chapter 17: Birth

You headed towards the centre of town, it was pretty empty as the night had advanced pretty quickly- it was your second night out of Tempest but you wouldn't be sleeping tonight as you came upon the same well from before that still leaked magicules like crazy; it was definetly the cause of all the spirits in the area acting up and you needed to put a stop to it.

You began to investigate around the well, looking for a sort of enterance that may have been used to seal the dragon that could be down there- you stayed in human form whilst investigating just in case you were spotted. You were investigating for a solid 15 minutes before a guard to head towards you with his weapon pointed down at you ready to pierce your body if you were deemed as evil;

Guard: " Step away from the well slowly and drop anything that may be in your hands! "

You listened and lifted your hands up to show that you weren't holding anything as you walked away from the well on the guards orders until he was satisfied that you were far enough away- he began to search you in case there was anything suspicious on your person but yet again he couldn't find anything. You didn't have anything suspicious on you but it was still strange to be snooping around a city's well during the night.

Guard: " Explain yourself, what were you doing? "

You: " The well is expelling a large amount of magicules, it's attracting spirits to the area and causing spirit sickness- I came to investigate and stop whatever was causing it "

Guard: " I see, did you bring this up with the count? "

You: " No I didn't know that was a neccessity to save lives "

Guard: " yup it's his town, now come with me- you're being taken in for questioning "

You: " I see, you knew what I was doing from the start huh "

The guard was skewered by earth spikes, a lesser earth spell used from earth spirits you create on a whim and sent at him- you had to quickly descend into the well before more guards came. You jumped the small wall of the well and stood on it's wooden cover before stomping the top of it heavily and shattering it with one kick before falling deep into the caves under the city.

You hit the floor and your eyes adjusted allowing you to see perfectly, the cave was much like the one veldora made back in Tempest- there were rich magic ore clusters and healing herbs everywhere lining the inside, you began to head deeper determined to find this dragon and save your first town on your adventure. The cave was long, having been walking for about 20 minutes in one direction with your speed, you began to grow bored of it and quickly sensed for the dragon; you could feel it up ahead, deep below a bridge that was formed in the next 'room' of the cave.

You headed over and soon looked out, the bridge was long and made purely from stone with magic ore jutting from it along the bottom and sides when it should also be formed along the top- it wasn't a dungeon so a cave formed specifically to allow people to walk through it was strange since this ledge could have survived a cave in but no magisteel on the top and that it linked two passages seemed too lucky to be natural.

The town became stranger: a woman with a skill reserved for dragons, town guards who seem desperate to keep people away from the well, a lord who apparently needs people to ask him for permission to look at things in his town... it was far too odd, but now the dragon was the priority, you released the human disguise covering your body and jumped from the bridge; you saw the dragon below, it was large and fattened up like people had been feeding it a lot and chains bound it's feet to the wall.

Dragon: " Ah another sacrifice already? hmm but why a grown man "

You landed in front of him as his eyes seemed to adjust and see your form for the first time as he began to scramble himself against the wall and cower in a sort of fear struck daze as the dragon began to stutter and try form a sentence, again you began to grow bored of it and put your hand out towards it before your piercing eyes began to shine a dazzling and radient golden glow that seemed to soothe the dragon and calm it's mind allowing it to speak properly
