You had to jump back, leaping away from the mighty hands of the king that swung down and nearly crushed you on the spot, Kaya shouted with worry but luckily you were ok; you were stronger so why weren't you winning, what was his secret...
The Lord looked at you, a bright devilish grin illuminated on his face by the dazzling rays of the sun that broke through the window, sunlight? How did you only just notice, you had brought sunlight back to the island after killing their king so was that the secret behind the man's power? He seemed frail before, weakened when he sat on the balcony but only began to attack after you killed the king. He noticed your gaze and a hearty laugh began to boom from his throat which made your eyes snap to him on instinct, he lowered himself and took a knee as blood coughed from his mouth.
Lord: " I see you finally noticed, yes you were correct to assume that my power comes from the sun, a power you gave back to me... I wanted to show you the power you gave me again the traditional way as a thank you, never would have thought you would've been this slow to notice "
You: " Are you praising me or insulting me? "
Lord:" Why not both? Thank you for giving me and my people our strength back after it was stolen by that horrible man "
You: " I genuinely have no clue what's happening? "
The lord looked dumbfounded, you had to explain that you were only here for Kaya and that killing the king was never your intention but you didn't know he'd be so weak. The Lord let out a deep sigh but agreed to explain the history of the werewolves to you; In the beginning two wolves named Skoll and Hati chased the sun and moon, Skoll was a black wolf that chased the sun and Hati was a white wolf that chased the moon.
Skoll and Hati soon began to question their existance, why did they chase these unobtainable things and why did they part ways to do so when they would always circle back around to the same spot when the hours passed. The gods did not like that the wolves now questioned life and punished the two, both became two beautiful werewolf women and had a line of children before dying. Skoll, the day, gave birth to only males and Hati, the night, gave birth to only females; if either lineage were to ever bear a child of direct lineage with the opposite gender to their curse then those two would be the reincarnations of the two wolves.
Kaya and the King were born 200 years after Skoll and Hati died which was why they were forced together but before that, the clans of day and night blamed eachother for their mother's deaths as each one believed the other wolf was the one who convinced the other that they were needing to question life and so they were at one another's throats. The Lord never imagined the night court who use their king to make the day court weaker.
You: " So Kaya is Skoll and your race of werewolves is stronger in the day is basically just the jist of it? "
Lord: " Yeah basically "
You: " Right... so can I take Kaya and leave? "
Lord: " Unfortunately no, we may have a war with the night court soon after their son was killed so we really need all the help we can get! "
You: " Right... so you want me to stay and prepare for war? "
The lord agreed and so the war preparations began, every werewolf capable of fighting gathered for a tournament under the Lord's orders to see who would be granted captain status once war begins; whilst this went on, you left to the tower on the western side of the island and climbed the large slope all the way to the top with Kaya to access the grand library of information that Skoll gathered on her adventurers to chase the sun.
The door creaked open, the musty smell of dust choking you as you peered inside the dark and eerie tower- it stood as tall as veldora and inside lay a spire of bookshelves with each one looking completely unique to those next to it; each page being a treasure trove of information, the voice soon told you that there was a large collection of grimoires also housed in the tower but they were scattered around so finding them amongst each book would be hard. Grimoires were ancient technology that allowed a person to seal their skills in a book for someone to gain after death and was often used to pass on unique skills as hereditory traits or treasures.
