Chapter 46: On the Move

The return to Tempest was a quiet one, we had informed our helpers to not mention our return so the arrival was quick and easy- we got back home without being noticed and placed our stuff back where it needed to be or in a hamper to be washed by the attendants. Rimuru seemed to fidget a lot once we had gotten back, moving around visibly uncomfortable in his chair and placing a hand occasionally on his belly with a look is displeasure and a small whimper or sigh escaping his lips.

You: " You ok my love? Does something ail you? "

You asked, gently lifting him and placing him onto a pillow that you slipped beneath him and the chair to soften the hard wood a little.

Rimuru: " Pregnancy is annoying, the baby is kicking more than usual and it hurts "

He said with a slight sad whimper, I had to try do something to calm the baby; maybe I could do what I always saw growing up? I placed a hand gently on Rimuru's belly- only through the clothes though, I began to massage and gently rub the area where the pregnant belly was most obvious, I could feel the little kicks against my hand and it seemed the sensation of my hand was soothing both Rimuru and the baby. A relaxed look came to Rimuru's face during the slight massage and it seemed the baby's kicks had died down and calmed to a halt.

Rimuru: " that's much better "

His bright eyes and gentle lips upturned into a smile as he leaned back more comfortably in the chair, a slight rattle was heard downstairs before the doors to the office flung open and a few figures rushed in; Souei, Benimaru, Shuna and Shion had entered rather abruptly and stood rather ominously in the room- someone I didn't know the name of appeared out of nowhere beside me but he harboured no apparent or strong ill intent towards any of us and it seemed the others knew who he was.

A long discussion took place going over a long winded plan that didn't seem to involve me- consequences of leaving the kingdom before it happened but anywho; the plan in detail was that the old king would be returned to his kingdom, the kingdom that attacked Tempest earlier this year, the hero party that was deemed to be the ones who defeated some terror or whatever were to back him up along with Diablo who spoke on the demands of Tempest- the role he played would be to force the kingdom into a political discourse and slowly destroy is from the inside with anarchy before eventually allowing the moment for the false hero that Tempest control to take the throne and seize the power of one of the largest human nations for themselves. The plan was highly thought out and calculated, surprising me with it's ingenuity- I pondered for a while, gently stroking my beard as I faced the window for inspiration; it came to me rather quickly causing me to turn to the others during the discussion and speak my revelation.

You: " Formally, there is no apparent ties bringing together my kingdom and our alliance to Tempest- we have the backing of the holy church of luminous as well as other human nations with monster territories included; the alliance we run is unaffiliated but if we can convince the ones monitoring us and keeping tabs on our moves that we believe personally, the hero's party is the correct and more agreeable outcome then we can sway the tides of battle through both politics and outnumbering armies with support troops sent from the alliance as proof of our support "

Rimuru: " What if you were found out? How badly would this affect the alliance? Could you potentially make enemies with other kingdoms or human settlements near the area? "

You: " The alliance has slightly unsavoury characters in it as well as some decent ones, my idea is to play on a similar desire they all share- Political Achievements and Merit- if I can convince the alliance to send a portion of aid relief to the kingdom during it's downfall and act as if it were the hero reaching out to them for help then the supporting kingdoms will not only gain merit for supporting and providing aid to a struggling country but also garner citizen support and support of lower rank nobles who may be struggling with supply shortages that would be seized for the soldiers "

Rimuru: " Yes I see, then we would not only have internal support but also the support of other nations as well as admiration from those who seek humanitarian outcomes, the discourse will cause a lot of panic in the surrounding areas so if we can use the alliance to promise aid and support to struggling areas then we can push for the hero to become the king even quicker. How much do you think each kingdom will give for rations though? "

You: " as of last meeting, the alliance supplies that are shared as a common wealth include a donation of a 14 month stock of non-perishable food donated as a fee, this was agreed to be used in times of war but if a promise is made for my kingdom alone to refill the emergency stock then the alliance is more likely to grant permission for the stock to be used as a war relief for afflicted areas- in terms of soldiers there will be no need for donations as a civilisation of sucubi and incubi near the desert have been awaiting action or military movement; they lust for battle and will most likely agree to military deployment as long as combat is ensured "

Rimuru: " the alliance seems ready to support us then? I assume you run the show? "

You: " Puppet nobles have been placed in all non-subordinate kingdoms, those who have sworn loyalty will do as I say anyway but I have placed actors in all kingdoms to sway royal and civil discussions; as of current there is not a single kingdom within the alliance that has a party rebelling against the proposed alliance due to a silent movement between commoners caused by the political and civil agents "

Rimuru: " You're more of a puppet master then I thought, how likely is it that you can place actors in all demon lord domains for future use? "

You: " A holy knight was accepted into the church of luminous as of recently, I managed to prove the connection between lord Luminous Valentine and the church- it seems to be a puppet organisation for the demon lord and due to a connection formed within their ranks due to the alliances agreement with the seven days clergy, I have managed to place a puppet inside their ranks- other than that, I have two puppets in both demon Lord Milim and Cromwell's domains "

Rimuru: " should I start worrying about your intelligence network? "

You: " There is nothing to worry about as of now my lord "

I finished the discussion with a grin, true be told, it may have come off as ominous but eventually everyone began to leave and exit the building, leaving Rimuru and I alone- presumably
