//CHAPTER 14.1

Orange

Every smile, every word,

Is scrutinized with care.

Afraid that the facade may crack,

And reveal the truth laid bare.

Orange couldn't help but feel fearful as he waited in anticipation for Red to turn around. So far, the scientist hadn't made a move to hurt him yet.

It didn't help that Orange was currently drugged and unable to run away if he wanted to.

So much for being the fastest Rainbow Friend.

Orange took to staring at the door where Blue had left. Sure, Orange understood that Blue probably hated him for telling the truth, hell, he even expected it.

But it still hurt to know that Blue would leave him when he was so obviously terrified.

Orange wondered if Blue would ever come to terms with it, if Orange were to talk to him again once he himself had healed and Blue had calmed down.

Now, he and Red were alone in the room, and Orange couldn't help but remember the last time he had been alone with Red.

Red had hit him and scolded him, drugged him and forced him into a collar. Then the scientist had tested it at full force while Orange begged for mercy on the ground.

Orange knew he was going to have nightmares about it for a long time. As if his nightmares weren't bad enough already.

The pain had seemed to spread throughout his entire body now. Orange clenched his teeth, trying to steady his breathing as he felt another wave of pain wash over him.

How hadn't he felt this earlier? Apparently his Predator Form couldn't seem to feel pain, it seemed.

After another minute or so, Red finally turned around with a tray of very sharp and thin tools. Orange tried to wiggle away, but almost fell off of the table during the attempt.

Red put a firm hand on his shoulder to steady him as he picked up another syringe.

"No- no don't-" Orange stammered, but Red interrupted him.

"This will numb the pain while I'm working. Do you want it or not?" He spoke, looking down at Orange with narrowed eyes.

Orange paused for a second, considering whether to trust him or not. On the one hand, Red had proven to be someone who could not be trusted. On the other hand, this would probably hurt a lot without it.

Seeing as he didn't have any other choice, he let Red give him the injection. The needle barely stung as it was pressed into his arm, but Orange still flinched as it felt cold against his scales.

"That- had better not be poison." Orange said breathlessly. Red set down the syringe, still watching him closely.

"Orange." The scientist said, grabbing his attention. "You're hurt. Badly. You need to let me help you. We can talk about...this, later." Red gestured to Orange's wound as he spoke.
