//CHAPTER 12.4

Orange

With every step they take towards the end,

The thrill of completion pulses through their veins.

Their spirits soaring high,

In the sweet satisfaction of a job well done.

Both Orange and Elise had worked together to get two more bags of sugar. They had found one on the bridge, where Elise had almost died when Blue appeared around the corner. Thankfully, Elise had a box, which she threw over her head to hide just in time.

Orange had to admit that he may have been shaking a little bit afterwards. Unlucky for him, Elise had noticed, and teased him for worrying too much.

They found the second one in the throne room, which Orange hadn't even known existed. The last time he was in the blue castle, he had gone out the front door.

Seeing the throne had him wondering. The castle at the Playplace was much smaller, and didn't even come with any furniture. Why had Blue, and even himself, never seen it before?

However, he knew he would have to think about it later, as Elise couldn't use her box while holding two sugars at the same time.

Orange requested that he hold them, but Elise refused, wanting to help Orange out after he saved her multiple times.

Now, the two were on their way to turn the sugars in.

The walk back had been quite uneventful so far, as it seemed that the Rainbow Friends were searching in other places this time. Either that, or they were chasing someone else down.

Orange glanced around, keeping his eyes out for any of the Rainbow Friends. It felt too quiet for his liking. Elise was saying something about the Lookies, but he wasn't really paying attention.

As the two neared the starting point once again, Orange hoped it would be the last time. Elise poured in the sugar, and Orange peered into the bowl.

"Surely that's enough sugar, right?" Orange asked nervously, "I don't even think a Lookie could survive that much."

Elise shrugged. "The list on this table says we need nine. And...then we also need someone who knows how to bake." She sighed.

Orange glanced over worriedly. "I'm...assuming that you don't know how." He said, to which Elise nodded.

"Unfortunately." She said quietly.

The two stood in an awkward silence, not quite sure what to do next, when another human came running up. It looked like a boy to Orange.

"Hey! I found a-" They were yelling, and they froze as they saw Elise standing next to Orange. Their eyes went wide, and Orange noticed that they took a step back.

"Elise." The boy whispered, "There's....there's a-" He was saying. It was quiet enough so that Orange's translator barely picked it up, and the Rainbow Friend resisted the urge to step closer.
