Shattered Chains (Part 4/5)

Hi guys! Sorry that there was more delay with the posting, but I've got the next chapter ready, so here you go.

//CHAPTER 17.4

Blue

Where silence thickened like mist, they fought,

Two sides of a broken coin.

Words, once warm and bright, turned icy, sharp like shattered glass,

Urging you to give in, to join.

Blue gasped for breath as Purple lunged for him. He held his arms up, trying to push the other monster away, but it did little good. Purple clambered all over him, trying to sink his teeth into Blue's flesh, and Blue was hardly able to keep track of him.

Around him, Green, Yellow, and Cyan were all distracted by the Lookies rolling around. And while Blue was struggling with Purple, he could see Green wave his long arm, driving a few of the Lookies backward.

Blue growled in frustration, finally grabbing Purple and ripping the smaller monster off of him. Purple scratched at the air, growling furiously. However, Blue continued to hold him like a small cat, both of his nub hands underneath Purple's arms, preventing him from moving.

It seemed that he could still overpower Purple, despite the chemical that the latter had been given. Blue briefly wondered if Purple really was going to be okay after this. Or would he be stuck in this state forever?

Blue's train of thought was cut off as a Lookie suddenly flew into his face, bouncing right off and back into the fray.

Blue blinked, caught off guard as Purple squirmed. Before Blue knew it, Purple had used the distraction to get out of his grip, crawling away at an unsettling speed, accompanied by a low hiss.

His gaze shot upwards as he cursed at himself for letting Purple get away. He huffed as he ran back over to prevent the Lookies from getting squished or mauled by the other Rainbow Friends.

The Lookies were already doing a great job of avoiding the others, but Blue was determined to make sure that the Lookies survived this. Yet it turned out that they were actually pretty useful in a fight.

And...maybe they were a bit cute as well.

"Orange you'd better hurry..." Blue muttered, as if his friend could even hear him.

Blue ran over and wrapped his arms around Yellow, who had been chasing Coral around. He tried to ignore the fact that he was purposefully avoiding having to hurt Green in any way.

As Yellow squawked at him, sounding more like a large bird than ever, Blue winced. All he had to do was keep these guys busy until Orange and Elise found a way to turn everything off.

Then he could find Red and make him fix Purple.

Yellow managed to plant his feet on the ground, pushing up against Blue harshly. Blue lost his balance, and Yellow was able to swing around, throwing Blue away from him with a forceful thrust.

Blue almost went flying straight into some more Lookies, but thankfully they seemed to have a fast reaction time, rolling out of the way yet again. Blue lay on the ground for a moment before propping himself up with his arms.
