I Chose this Life
As Jake approached me and Zilla, Sergeant shot his head around to look at the guy and when he saw him, he started barking.
"Sergeant, stop," I said.
"Whoa, you got a dog there," he said.
"He's very picky about who he lets near," I stated.
"Hey I'm one of the good guys," Jake said putting his hands up in surrender to Sergeant, who growled a little bit.
"He'll be the judge of that," I assured. Jake stepped a little closer, Sergeant stared at him but didn't bark or growl again.
"I think I'm safe," he said lowering his arms.
"Never assume anything," I replied.
"Well don't you know how to make an entrance. You know half the line out there is here in hopes of seeing you."
"Someday, I'll show you what a real entrance looks like. If you want that crowd out there to remember you instead of me you better show them something amazing," I told him.
"I plan too, been working on a bunch of different stuff."
"What about that name?" I asked.
"I'm still working on it; I think I'm getting close to something but I want to make sure about it."
"I get it, make sure it's right," I told him.
"It will be, you didn't message me back in the last few messages I sent you."
"Sorry, busy person I've had a lot of things happen in the last few weeks," I said then looked to Zilla. "I need to sit; we got the same spot again?" I asked.
"We'll catch up with you later, Jake," Zilla said. I waved him off and Sergeant growled at him when he tried to pet his head.
"I wouldn't unless your fine with losing a few fingers," I winked at him as I slowly followed Zilla and Michael over to the same corner we had last time. I'd just sat down when David, the promoter made his way on over to us. His face red and sweating like he just ran a marathon in this heat.
"Zilla, I've changed the event around. I know you were supposed to go on second but I want you in the main event. If you come out in the second match and they don't see Briar they might end up leaving before the show even gets halfway. If you go on last, they'll have no choice but to stay in hopes that Briar will show to," he explained then looked to me before Zilla could respond.
"Briar, it's great to have you with us, any chance you want to make an appearance out there tonight?" he asked and I saw how this was and I stood back up and Sergeant growled at the man who took a step closer.
"I will not be making any appearance tonight; I will also not be sitting out at ringside. I'll be watching from behind the curtain. I understand my appearance last time stirred some people up and it gave your promotion a bit of a push, but understand me being here has nothing to do with helping or promoting your company. I'm grateful for you to let me be here, but I'm here only because of Zilla, nothing else."
"Right, I'm sorry, I didn't mean anything negative, I think the heat and the crowd have gone to my head. Please enjoy the show I hope your impressed with tonight's matches," he stated.
"I'm sure I will be," I told him and he walked away. I sat back down in my chair with Sergeant laying comfortably on my lap. While Zilla prepared for the show I had some of the guys who'd I seen or talked to last time stop by. As time went by you could hear the crowd get louder and louder and just around show time the walls were almost vibrating.
