Back On the Road

The week kind of flew by with final preparations, family and friends coming and go, and trying to tell myself I was ready for this. By the time I blinked it was Thursday night. We'd be driving down to St. Petersburg early in the morning. I was already in my pajamas, I just finished packing all that I needed and put my suitcase next to the door with Roman's. I picked Sergeant off the floor and we sat on the edge of the bed, I had put on the Royal Rumble from last year the

volume on low just as background noise to ease my mind. Wrestling commentary was always a relaxing thing for me but I was also studying what others have done, seeing what works and what doesn't.

"What do you think Sergeant, think your mom has what it takes to go for it?" I asked him. He lifted his head up at me then licked my face. I laughed pushing him away. "Thanks buddy, I can always count on you. Sorry but you're going to have to get out of your routine and get used to being a traveling dog," I explained to him as Roman came into the room. He smiled at us and noticed my bag.

"You all packed then?" he asked.

"Ready to go," I chimed. He looked to the TV to see what I was watching.

"Studying?" he questioned.

"Yes," I answered and he turned to go to the closet but not before I saw a smirk appear on his face. He came back out a few minutes later in just a pair of black sweat pants and his hair down. He sat down on the edge of the bed on my left. He ran his hand down my tattooed arm before lacing his fingers together with mine and I leaned my head against his shoulder.

"So, I guess tomorrow I have to let you loose into the real world again."

"I'm afraid so Chief, but just a heads up this time around I'm going to be a lot wilder," I said. He squeezed my hand.

"Then I guess I'll have to keep a much closer eye on you."

"I'm sorry," I said sitting up to look at him.

"About what?"

"For everything I'm about to do in the future that is going to annoy you."

"Wildfire, I'm well aware you make decisions without discussing them with me first and yes, I do get annoyed by it but no that doesn't make me love you any less. It just keeps me on my toes more and more prepared for whatever there is to deal with. So, lean your head back on my shoulder and let's watch the rest of the match then we'll get some sleep because tomorrow we have somewhere to go," he said and I didn't retort or argue with him. Instead, I just nodded, rested my head back on his shoulder, and watched the ending of the match.

I anxiously paced around the driveway with the film crew and camera filming my every move. I couldn't wait any longer and went back to the house pausing in the doorway.

"If the rest of you aren't on the bus in the next ten minutes, you're going to have to find another way there!" I shouted.

"Little Uce you need to like chill out, you hear, it's going to be fine," Jimmy said coming to the door pulling his suitcase.

"We just need to be on time," I said.

"We will be," Roman said coming up behind Jimmy. Jimmy headed to the bus as Naomi was already there. Roman reached out and put a hand on my shoulder.
