Chapter 26
How We Communicate
Our time was precious as Roman and I enjoyed the weekend together because I knew I wouldn't seem him again till after SummerSlam.
"What was it you needed to tell me?" Roman asked as we walked out the front door together when he was getting ready to go.
"What do you mean?" I asked unsure where the question came from.
"At SmackDown you said there was something you needed to tell me to keep communication between us open. Our minds got preoccupied this weekend and I just remember that right now," he said as we came to a stop next to his car and I turned to look up at him.
"I wrote a note and gave it to Paul to give to Cody Rhodes," I told him and I saw he wasn't expecting that.
"A note about what?"
"I've been carefully watching his feud with Brock Lesnar. So, I wrote a message to Cody on how he could conquer the beast."
"Why would you want to help him?" he asked and I was reliving the same conversation with Paul about this over again.
"Because if I give him advice, I think it would be beneficial in the long run if Cody owed a favor."
"What makes you think he'll take your advice?"
"Because last time I gave him advice, he didn't take it and he regretted it. He'll take it and we both know the feud between you and him isn't over. If Cody owes a favor, it's staying one step ahead of him Chief," I explained and Roman pondered it.
"Alright, we'll go with it."
"Paul was going to have a conversation with Hunter about it, they might put it on RAW next Monday and have Paul deliver it there to him. I told him they could point in my direction that the note was from me but not actually use my name."
"I'm just going to trust you on this one Wildfire," he told me which I wasn't expecting that responds.
"You are?"
"Yeah, most of the time your ideas are good and it's not like you haven't had time to think about this."
"I have and I think it'll work in Bloodline favor in the long run."
"Was there something else you needed to tell me?"
"As long as my recovery doesn't have any setbacks, I have an official return date."
"Really and what's that?" he asked and I told him.
"That'll be interesting," he said.
"I talked with Julia, Deb, and Cindy about it and gave them a few of my ideas so they could help me plan some stuff. I want to make sure when I come back it's going to blow everyone's minds and they won't see it coming. Right now, you, Julia, Deb, Cindy, and Paul know. I told Paul I wanted as few people to know as possible. He was going to mention it to Hunter I believe when he brought him my note."
"No matter what you do Wildfire, I'm sure you'll blow them all away. I know your creative mind has no limits."
"Thanks Chief and good luck at SummerSlam I know you'll steal the show like you always do," I said and he leaned down kissing me.
After Roman left, I knew it was time to stop avoiding the inevitable. I left Sergeant with Zilla After I informed him on what I was about to do then went to my office. I sat down at my desk and pulled my phone out. I laid the card for Richard next to it and tried to calm myself before I made the call. I wasn't sure how this conversation was going to go or how it was going to make me feel because the last time we tried having a conversation it sent me over to the Wild One and I didn't have Roman to bring me back if that happened again. I dialed the number, put the phone on speaker, and sat it down on my desk. I listened to the rings echo throughout the room, waiting for what was to happen. A couple of rings, then the voice.
