Tribal Combat
The opening of SummerSlam had started and Linda, Zilla, and I were already to go. I felt well rested after my nap and I was in a much better mind set about what was going to happen tonight then I have been over the past few weeks. We got through the opener of the show which was a good match between Ricochet and Logan Paul that got you amped up for the rest of the show. Then a killer promo came on for the next match which was the first of three matches that evening I was keeping a close watch on. The promo ended and here came Brock Lesnar and then out through the smoke came Cody Rhodes. As Cody made his walk down the long winding entrance the announcers brought up and even showed my social media message, I'd posted earlier in the day right before I took my nap.
'It isn't always easy to destroy the obstacles blocking the road on our way to fulfilling our destiny. You have the answers, they've been there all along now I've shown you what you need to see. What will you do? What's your divine move to eliminate that obstacle?' Michael Cole read my message.
"You are truly gifted in many ways Briar, but your creativity through your art and your way of words is definitely remarkable," Linda commented as the match was just about to get underway.
"I wish I had your way of words," Zilla added.
"I didn't use to have that, but when you spend a lot of time in your own head it seems to come out the way I always need it to," I explained just as the bell rang and from that moment Brock Lesnar dominated Cody Rhodes as I knew it would be the question though for this match was who was going to be the one that willed themselves to not stay down and to keep going. Off the bat Brock Lesnar did more than keep in charge of the match he was destroying Cody. They ended up outside the ring where brock F5'd Cody before getting back in the ring. The referee started counting but Cody got back up getting in the ring. Brock dragged him out again and hit a second F5 and once again Cody beat the count back in the ring Brock yelled at Cody to just stay down because it was only going to get worse. Brock brought Cody to the outside once again and this time F5'd Cody through the announcer's table. Brock yelled at Cody from in the ring to stay down but Cody was definite and found a way back into the ring.
"Guess he's making his divine move and listening to your advice," Zilla spoke.
"As long as he keeps doing it," I replied back keeping my eyes glued to everything that was happening. Brock hit Cody with so many suplexes I lost count on how many he hit but Cody kept pulling himself back up demanding Brock give him more. After a Cody cutter and some cross Rhodes's Cody Rhodes somehow someway stood the test of the beast and beat him. We watched as with the victory Brock Lesnar shook the hand of Cody Rhodes before raising his hand in victory. Cody's face was full of shock and bewilderment that Brock Lesnar was showing him this kind of respect. But I told him in my note that if you want to beat the beast to get his respect you never stay down and that's what Cody did.
"It all happened exactly as you said it would," Linda pointed out.
"What happens with this situation now I mean with you and Cody?" Zilla wanted to know.
"Only time will tell," I answered because I wasn't completely sure yet.
"I'm giving you a new nickname and I know a lot of people have had this nickname before but I think it fits you best," Zilla commented and I looked to him with curiosity. "Your new nickname is master manipulator," he said and I chuckled.
"Not completely wrong there," I spoke before we went back to watching the show.
We got through a good chunk of the show before it was time for the WWE Women's Championship triple threat match. Our contenders were the current champion Asuka, Charlotte Flair and a surprise contender in Iyo Sky. The drama was good and the risks they were taking was great but when the dust settled and the bell rang it was a very banged up Asuka who was doing her best to celebrate her victory despite going through a gurling match.
