Remember M'Dear's Roast?

Shaka held the door open for me as we left the ice cream parlor. It was a nice day and we decided to just walk and get some before our big nerf war later.
Y/n: "Thank you!"
Shaka: "No problem."
He said letting the door close. We began to walk home next to each other.
Shaka: "Sooo"
I looked at him. What can he be up to now?
Y/n: "Sooo?"
I said smiling.
Shaka: "Do you think that I've earned your trust back?"
I thought for a moment and looked at him.
Y/n: "This last month has been pretty calm so....I'd say yes."
He smiled at me.
Y/n: "Why?"
Shaka: "No reason."
Y/n: "Uh huhhhh, there's always a reason."
Shaka: "I'm not telling you though."
He said eating some ice cream. I leaned into him.
Y/n: "I know."
We walked for a while, finished our ice creams, and kept talking. I missed just talking with Shaka so much. Over the last couple of years we have grown and changed so much together. I mean we literally loved each other until death do us part. It wasn't funny to die, but I've learned to live with it. We walked up to the corner of a street and pressed a button and waited to cross the street. By now we had both finished our ice cream, so I stood with my arms crossed and swayed a bit. Shaka noticed and turned to me.
Shaka: "Are you okay?"
Y/n: "Yeah, I'm just kind of rocking...but thanks for asking."
I said smiling a bit. Shaka really had been making efforts to pay attention to me more, and by me I mean how I act and feel. I can tell he doesn't want to mess it up this time.
Shaka: "I'm just making sure."
I put my hands on the sides of his face.
Y/n: "I know, thank you Shaka."
He playfully rolled his eyes.
Shaka: "You're welcome"
I quickly gave him a kiss on the cheek which made him smile a bit before we took off running across the street.

~ Time Skip ~

Mazzi: "Is it ready yet?"
He said tossing me my second Nerf gun. I had gave it to him because it got jammed and you know Mazzi is smart enough to fix it. We both looked up at Shaka who was hanging a container full of plastic ping pong balls on the roof.
Shaka: "Pretty much, all I had to do was connect the machine to this battery pack and now..."
He climbed down the ladder.
Shaka: "When you press this button, they'll never know what hit em."
He said shaking the remote and handing it to me. I put it into the pocket on the back of my vest and saluted like we used to do with Principal Glass.
Jade: "Whatever, let's get ready because I see them prepping through the door."
Shaka and I quickly grabbed the ladder and carried it into the parlor while Mazzi taped a yellow X on the floor. Then Shaka, Mazzi and I flipped the table over to use as a shield before hiding behind the island. Jade hid in the doorway that leads to the parlor.
Y/n: "So, are we making the first move?"
I asked as we loaded our guns.
Shaka: "Not when we have these tables as protection."
Mazzi: "Yeah, plus they're outnumbered."
Before I could even completely load up my second gun, Grace burst through the front door yelling wildly while shooting her gun. Jade runs from her spot and jumps over the couch while me, Mazzi and Shaka shoot at Grace. She got hit multiple times, it was kind of a bad tactic. She hunches over and then leans back up to look at the front door.
Grace: "Ahhhh! I'm hit! Go on without me!"
She said wobbling over to a chair and flopping down, pretending to be dead.
Moz: "Okay.."
He said shrugging. Grace sat up and looked at him shocked before she went back to pretending to be dead. Daniel ran and stood in the doorway.
Daniel: "Grace! My older baby sister! NOOOOO!"
He runs in trying to shoot us. He was able to shoot Jade, but when he aimed towards me and the boys his gun got jammed. Right as that happened I ran out of ammo.
Y/n: "Dang! It's on y'all for right now, I gotta reload!"
I ducked down behind the table and grabbed all the Nerf bullets that I could. Before I could finish both the boys ran out too and Moz was walking in. I couldn't see, but I could hear him.
Moz: "Huh- woah woah woah. Here we go."
The boys started walking around the table and putting their guns down.
Y/n: "What are you guys doing?!"
I whisper-yelled.
Moz: "All right, all right. Easy...I'm sorry it has to end like this."
Shaka: "I'm not."
Then I thought...
The remote.
I stood up and shook it as Moz looked down and saw the X on the floor.
Moz: "Tell your mom I love her.....AND SHE BETTER NOT REMARRY!"
I pressed the button causing all of the ping pong balls to drop on top of Moz. My mouth dropped at the fact that it worked. He fell backwards and rolled over the back of the couch. It felt like it was in slow motion. Daniel got back up and started shooting a different gun while I shot back. I froze when I looked at the door though. M'Dear and Mr. Jeb were back and walked in the front door.
Jeb: "WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON IN HERE?!"
We all quickly got ourselves together.
Grace: "Hey! Hey! Hey!"
Moz: "Yeah, yeah, hey! What- What is going on?"
He said as he literally waved his Nerf gun at me. When he realized what he was doing he quickly dropped it on the couch.
Jade: "Uh, don't act like you weren't playing."
Grace: "Yeah Moz! Daniel! You should be ashamed of yourselves."
She said walking to her parents.
Grace: "I tried to stop 'em M'Dear."
I held in my laugh while I was still holding a gun and the remote behind my back.
Jeb: "Be calm Melly. Be calm."
M'Dear: "Whatever"
She said speed walking past us to her room.
Jeb: "Clean this stuff up!"
Moz: "He's talking to you."
Grace: "To youuu"
They said pointing at each other. I relaxed my arms and let them hang.
Jade: "M'Dear hasn't been acting like herself lately."
Moz: "Yeah. I mean, she never passes on whupping some behind."
Shaka: "Me either."
He said shooting Daniel in the butt. I quickly hid behind the table and began shooting with a smile. Daniel fell to his knees and pretended to be dead.
