"Bea, stop. Please, stop.. Don't." she pleaded for me to stop everything I have to say with tears in her eyes.

I slowly let go of her hands and even the slightest hopes of getting her back faded into thin air. My chest tightened like it's going to explode anytime soon enough that my heart breaks into millions of pieces as she wiped her own tears.

When are we going to stop hurting each other? Kailan kami hihinto sa pag-iyak?

You already did. Kaya nga kayo naghiwalay, 'di ba? You just have to ruin it every damn time, Bea, don't you? You're the one who made the decision of letting her go. It was your idea, remember?

But reality hits hard when you're enjoying delusional situations. Tulad ngayon, she's just being nice since napansin niyang hindi ako okay kaya ano'ng pumasok sa isip ko para umasta nang ganito? She stood up and went to pick up the paper bag at the top of the counter. I was watching her every movement.. And when she finally took out the small cake from it, that's when I realized kung para saan 'yon.

I double tapped my phone screen to see what time it is now.. 12:04AM.

"Happy birthday, Bei. Pasensya na, walang candle."

I sniffed and tried not to shed tears kahit nagwawala na 'yung puso ko. So, maybe this is the reason kung bakit pinagbibigyan niya ako ngayon. Because it's my birthday?

I'll take it. I'll take every reason she has and there is as long as I can get to be with her.

"You remembered.." I emotionally pointed out the obvious.

"Of course! How could I ever forget your birthday? It's the most special day of the year."

"Cait.. You didn't have to, you know?"

She's still smiling with the cake in her hands. "No, Bea. This is the only excuse I can think of to be with you.. I know we promised na we're going to wait until we're healed kaya pagbigyan mo na ako to do this and to celebrate this day with me." her voice shakes. "Ang dami kong gustong ipagpasalamat ngayong araw. Thank you because you were born. Thank you because we've met in this lifetime." she let out a small laugh and continued. "I hope na pati sa iba't ibang universe na meron.. magkakilala at masaya tayo. I know that it's your birthday, Bea, but can you wish for us to find each other again, no matter how many lifetimes come and go?"
