I was actually looking forward to visiting the royal castle. Despite the horrid travel sickness and the task of travelling with two babies, I had things to do and people to see.

Literally.

Pulling up to the grand entrance of the castle grounds in the wintertime was gloomier than expected. Despite the well-maintained gardens, even the healthiest of plants gave into their seasonal changes. Much like Phoenix, who was getting hairy again. The twins noticed it too, because Belle soon latched onto the rough curls on his chin with all her strength.

I think there was actually a bald patch now.

Thankfully, Alexandar didn't live too far, and by the ungodly car ride came to a well-wanted halt. I was out of the vehicle before anybody else, Phoenix blinking at me with surprise. Heaving in mouthfuls of air, I forced myself to calm down. I heard him exit the car behind me, his hand coming to the small of my back.

"You did well this time." He murmured. "I think it's subsiding."

I exhaled a soft laugh. "The morning sickness has gone, but I think the travel sickness will stay forever."

"Don't jinx it, my love." He mused, kissing my temple.

As I prepped the pushchair, Phoenix gathered the twins from the car. We could've left them at home, but with Molly's newest addition, there were too few people that I felt comfortable enough to leave them with. My parents would help my brother, and Rose and Sean were the alpha pair in charge. In was Rose's first time since being fully mated, and I didn't want her to have the burden of the twins too.

It was a daunting time knowing you had an entire pack to look after, especially for the first time.

So, because we were down a guard, I convinced Phoenix to bring another. He would just be on edge the whole time anyway, and with Calida gone, I needed a female's touch.

Kelsey was as close as we were going to get. She was a stern warrior, built of steel and scars. There was a reason she was my guard so many times, and I trusted her completely to watch my back and also look after the twins. Although a little stiff with them, she was the perfect addition to our group. But I guess that was why we had James. The poor man has been my maid for way too long for me to admit, and the kids loved him.

Phoenix nearly suggested one of the other twins, and I could just picture having to choose between Miley or Maisie. It would only cause the girls to argue, and their jealousy was not something I wanted to deal with. They were weirdly linked to, more so than Pollux and I. The moment one did something, the other knew.

Plus, they were not up to scale with the whole visiting a high ranked wolf thing.

With the twins situated, rather grumpily, into their pushchair after their wonderful car nap, we turned to approach the castle doors. They opened the moment we approached, and I sharply inhaled as we entered the castle.

It was always a grand entrance when we came here, and I wondered how it felt to be so favoured. Was it awkward? Or did they enjoy it too much? I, for one, would not be a fan of the grand entrances.

The man in the foyer greeted us, glancing at our two guards with curiosity. He told us that the king would be in the grand office, apparently waiting for us. The pushchair squeaked softly against the hard floors, and I tried not to steer it too roughly in fear of scuffing the pristine marble.

We came to a stop at some double doors, once again guarded by two stern looking men. The guard that led us here came to a stop, knocked twice, and then gestured us forward. I didn't hear Alexandar call to us, which was a good thing because it meant the room was soundproof. Instead, the guards opened both of the doors, their eyes trained ahead. I didn't miss the way one focused on Phoenix as he walked past him, though.
