"Call up venues in all of Brazil" Joost told me.
A few days after our last encounter I invited the whole crew to the office where I did my work. I wanted this to feel professional so Joost knew I was taking this seriously. I had nothing to prove to him, but I needed to make sure this wouldn't be fucked up on my behalf.
"Why the fuck would you want me to do that? You have no audience in South America in general" I scoffed. "No one would buy tickets so it would only cost us money"
We were sitting at this long glass table in a skyscraper that had a view over Berlin. I needed to make my clients feel like royalties. And I chose a skyscraper because if I were to come near an open window with Joost close by, then it would solve a lot of problems.
"I'm sorry you're not here to tell me where I choose my venues at, your job is to get it done and book them. Now call up every venue in Brazil" Joost commanded.
I looked towards Aggu who was sitting next to him. "I mean I always wanted to play in South America..." he said, being very unsure whose side to pick as Joost and I kept on bickering.
"Fine. One show in Brazil. Do you have other wishes?" I asked with a straight face.
"At least one show in every country in Europe" Joost asked with a bright mocking smile.
"You're not that famous to sell out venues all over Europe" I stated as an obvious facture.
He was only doing this to provoke me. Joost only did things to provoke me. He had never done one kind thing towards me. And yes, I am being a hypocrite because I had never done a kind thing towards him either.
"I don't care. Do your job" he said.
"Joost, calm down" Teun said from his side.
"Well, if she can't do her job properly, maybe she shouldn't be doing this in the first place" Joost started getting frustrated.
"Joost, I do my job the best I can. I make sure that the artist that I work for gets their wishes to become reality. I make sure that things get done, but what you are doing right now is pathetic. Trying to make my job harder just so I'll leave? That will never happen" I leaned forwards on my arms to force eye contact.
"Fine." he said firmly. He then slid a paper across the glass table. "I want to tour in all these cities, I want my friends to open at the Dutch shows, I want Baco for my artist rider at every show, and I want you to watch every single one of my performances. If you don't live up to any of these criteria, then I will make sure you get fired"
I scanned the list as it had all the information that he just said but written down. I could tell that most of the shows were either in The Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, Germany but there were a few single cities in countries such as England, Ireland, and France.
"I have one question. What the fuck is Baco?" I asked.
"It's for when we will board the Baco train, tut tut" He pulled down his arm as he made train noises.
He was so stupid that I couldn't help but roll my eyes. "That doesn't answer what Baco is" I stated.
"You're so fucking stupid, it's a drink that is mixed with Bacardi and Cola. God you seriously need to go out for once if you want to survive a tour with us" Joost scoffed.
"That's actually a really good idea" Aggu piped up.
"What do you mean?" I questioned.
"Let's all go out tonight. It will be the perfect way to let this heated conflict between the two of you die down" Aggu smiled as he shifted his head to look at me and Joost.
