Joel stood at the edge of the platform, staring into the swirling abyss of the void below. His heart raced as he replayed the events in his mind, trying to make sense of what had just happened.
Lizzie had gone to the End, determined to help him with his task. All he had told her was that he needed someone's help to kill someone, and she had immediately volunteered. She didn't know that he had enlisted someone else's help as well, and the task had already been completed. He had forgotten to tell her.
Lizzie had dragged Scott into the End with her, not explaining her true intentions. She had tried to push him into the void, but Scott had dodged at the last moment, leaving her to fall into the abyss herself. Joel saw the message in chat: Lizzie was dead.
His heart sank as he realized the gravity of his mistake. Lizzie had gone to the End alone with Scott, not knowing the task was already done. She had trusted him, and he had let her down. The guilt was overwhelming.
Scott emerged from the End, his expression a mix of confusion and concern. He rushed towards Joel, but Joel barely registered his presence.
"Lizzie's dead..." Joel muttered, his voice barely audible.
Scott looked at Joel. "It'll be alright.."
Joel shook his head, tears streaming down his face. "I didn't tell her. I didn't tell her the task was done. She went in thinking she had to... and now she's gone."
Scott placed a hand on Joel's shoulder, but the gesture did little to comfort him. The weight of his failure was too much to bear.
He had lost Lizzie because of his own negligence. And now, there was no way to bring her back. The void had claimed her, and he was left with nothing but the haunting memory of her final moments.
The End was empty, and so was he.
