the girls walked down the street towards nessas house, stopping outside her door. nessas eyes switched between the athletes eyes and lips. 

what she wouldnt do to tell her exactly what she felt without being scared to ruin their friendship. to be able to spill every single thought that had crossed her mind since they started that project together. like the butterflies that went wild in her stomach everytime she made her laugh or how she couldnt keep her focus whenever she was around.

"well i expect to see you tomorrow" she smiled showing of her dimples. "oh ill be there, you kept your part of the deal, i keep mine" 

nessa never really liked watching sports, but when she watched lynn play she actually enjoyed it. 

"well, gotta bounce" lynn shrugged her shoulders letting go of the other girls hand starting to  walk in the direction of her own house. nessa walked inside and flopped onto her bed, falling asleep almost immediately.

lynn kicked the rocks on the pavement as she walked in silence, but inside her mind was a never ending war. she felt happy just like she always did after being with nessa. it was like everytime she saw her smile, she couldnt help but do the same, or how shed get nervous everytime nessa reached for her hand. 

but the voice in her head was screaming at her for feeling this way. she wasnt in love, that was the end of the story.

she hated luna for calling her out everytime she mentioned vanessa, or all of margos way to long rants about how cute they would be together.

they were just friends.

lynn threw her jacket on the floor seeing a small piece of paper fly through the air, catching it before it hit the ground.

lynn just laughed at how desperate he seemed, throwing the note in the drawer on her nightstand before going to bed.

vanessa walked onto the school property and sat down scrolling on her phone patiently waiting for the game to begin. she felt stupid sitting alone after looking around seeing everyone were sitting in groups of 3 or more. 

about halfway through the game lynns team were in the lead. if nessa had to be honest, she didnt understand half of what was going on, but still she sat quietly watching.

it was like a magnet pulled her eyes over to the player with the number 1 on her back. no matter how hard she tried to pull her gaze away she always ended up staring at lynn.

a familiar short haired brunette walked up to nessa who was still sitting alone. "you mind if i sit?" nessa broke out of her thought and shook her head. 

"was it lori?" nessa questioned the brunette. "luna" she corrected. "right, sorry" nessa chuckled slightly embarrassed after saying the wrong name.

"no no, its fine." she assured. "are you here for lynn?" luna tilted her head. "yeah" 

luna looked over at the girl who seemed surprisingly invested in the game. she shot her eyes in the same direction hers were, landing on her younger sister. a small grin formed on her lips before she broke the silence again.

"do you like lynn?" she asked making nessa snap her head towards her with a shocked expression on her face. 

"what? pft no" she quickly defended herself realizing it sounded very much like a lie. she didnt even belive it herself.

"i wont tell" luna read her easily sending her a smile. "lynn seems very happy around you, you know? i think youre good for her"

"what does that mean?" nessas tense expression turned into a more confused one. 

"what do you want it to mean?" luna stood up from her seat not letting her answer the question. "well i better get back" then she turned around leaving nessa looking like a question mark.

"luna wait!" she called out but she just continued walking, not looking back. nessa let out a sigh and buried her head in her hands feeling even more embarrassed now knowing that lynns sister now knows she likes her.

there was 15 seconds left on the clock and there was one point between the teams. nessa sat on the edge of her seat like it would help them not let the other team score.

the referee blew his whistle and congratulated the royal woods team with their win. they all cheered and jumped around high-fiving each other. nessa couldnt help but smile seeing how happy this made lynn.

lynn ran over to nessa in the hall almost falling into her due to not being able to stop. "hello that was amazing!" nessa jumped along with her. 

they kept talking untill they were interrupted by someone shouting. "lynn! hurry up, were leaving!" luna stood there smirking. nessas stomach twisted, worried she would tell lynn what she recently discovered. 

"well ill see you tomorrow!" she said before walking towards her big sister.

when they got home lynn was in her room scrolling on her phone when she heard a knock on her door. she lifted her head and saw luna leaning on the doorframe.

"whats up?" she frowned at her rockstar sister. "sooo vanessa?" lynn put down her phone giving luna a confused look. "what about her?"

"you like her?" the older loud pushed herself off the doorframe walking further into the room. lynn clenched her fist, resisting the urge to swing her pillow in her face. what made her think she could barge into her room an ask her questions like that?

"ok what?" lynn laughed at her assumption trying to hide her anger. "i saw how you looked at her, you should ask her out" she sat down beside the girl dressed in red.

"i dont know what your on right now, but i dont like nessa. why are you even saying that?" lynns voice grew louder as she spoke. 

"come on lynn, im not stupid" she turned to look at her younger sister, who sent her a glare in response. "right now thats exactly what you are" lynn muttered.

"fine, sorry" luna put her hands up in surrender walking out of the room.

deep down, lynn knew luna was right. she liked nessa. but that was wrong, she was her friend. just the thought of that made her want to punch a hole in the roof. 

there was nothing wrong with nessa and she could deal with being in love with her, but it was the fact that she was a girl. 

she had to stop the feeling.

she turned her head towards the nightstand and the note that was placed on it. she grabbed it and typed in the numbers that were written on it. she hesitated for a second before sending a text.
