their conversation flowed easily as they walked along the sidewalk. normally the walk home would take around 15 minutes, but somehow thay managed to spend 40 minutes from the lake to nessas house.

nessa reached under the doormat for her key, twisting it in the keyhole and bringing it inside, not bothering to put it back. lynn looked around the hallway shed never been in before. "are you hungry? i could make something" nessa asked. "just some water would be nice" she replied, still amazed by the hallway that was bigger and tidier that the one she had at home. or maybe it just seemed bigger because there wasnt jackets and shoes laying around everywhere.

the second nessa walked into the kitchen and saw the yellow post it note hanging on the fridge she sighed, knowing exactly what it said.

had to take another shift

ill be home by the morning

love mom x

lynn gave her a sympathic look that was more comforting that shed like to admit. she grabbed two glasses of water and headed upstairs. again, lynn took in every corner of the room. and whilst lynn picked up each picture sitting on her shelf one by one studying them, nessa studied her. what she wouldnt do to be able to tell her everything without ruining their friendship.

"do you maybe want to sleep over?" she got her attention away from the pictures, smiling hopefully. lynn felt slightly bad for her, knowing shed be all alone if she said no. good thing that never even crossed her mind. "is that even a question" she made sure to text one of her siblings, annoncing that she wouldnt be home before tomorrow.

"you can borrow a shirt so you dont have to go home. only if you want to of course" nessa rambled, afraid it sounded as wierd as she felt whilst saying it. lynn took notice of this and quickly responded. "thank you. id love to" this made nessa smile again. she stood up from her sitting position on her bed and made her way over to her dresser.

"blue or grey" she asked, her back facing lynn. "grey" the athlete replied, only giving it a second think about. nessa got up, holding the shirt that was rolled up, looking like a ball in her hand. before lynn could so anything else it flew trough the air. "think fast" nessa was practically rolling on the floor at lynns confused face as the shirt brushed past her and landed on the floor next to her. "what a aim" she laughed along with nessa.

nessas couldve sworn her face went bright red when lynn picked the shirt up from the floor and pulled her jersey over her head without a warning. she could see her strong arms and very visible abs.

"like what you see?" lynn smirked. nessa tried defending herself, but she wasnt able to form any words probaby making her look like an even bigger idiot. if her face wasnt red before, it definitely was now. now lynn was the one laughing on the floor.

"you look so stupid right now" nessa eyed her sarcastically, but lynn wasnt able to answer, to busy laughing at her flustered face.

nessa sat enjoying the sound of lynns laughter that was slowly dying down. she couldnt help but smile at the sight of lynn staring at the ceiling trying to control her breath again.

they both went on their phones, scrolling through different kinds of social media when nessa threw her phone away and spoke.

"you know what we should do?" lynn lifted her eyes from the screen in front of her. "bake" she said jokingly. "i was going to say bring waterguns to school and attack people, but i think theres a bigger chance we come out of that alive" lynn raised her eyebrows. "well then you havent seen me in the kitchen" nessa laughed at the comment. "ill take the risk"
