bags-clario 'can you see me, i'm waiting for the right time'
there wasn't another word said for the rest of the walk home. nessa was fully aware of what she had done, feeling a tiny bit of regret, but lynn seemed to blame it on the drinks she had and that was a story nessa could play along with.
she still thought it felt somewhat good to finally let out the thoughts that had roamed her mind ever since she had met the girl, even if she didn't think she meant it.
and she was correct. lynn didn't think she meant it. mostly because of what she'd seen right before they left. carla looking over at her laughing whilst they were whispering about something it looked like only they were supposed to hear.
maybe they planned it and did it just to make lynn look stupid or get her hopes up. but on the other hand, none of them knew about her feelings towards nessa. her body language may have been easy to read for the people who knew her the best, but there was no way they could have noticed, right?
lynn made sure nessa got home safe and sound, then made her way back to her own house. she couldn't describe the feeling that sat in her chest. she could barely sit still, but didn't have the energy to do anything besides lay in bed and wait untill she fell asleep so she could finally escape her thoughts.
the next morning she didn't even bother to get up before having layed in bed for a good 25 minutes. she could hear her siblings talking in the hallway outside her door and saw the bed on the other side of the room was empty. she wasn't even sure if lucy was there when she got home or if she slept in the basement like she sometimes would, and honestly she didn't really care either.
she brushed her teeth and washed her face like she did every morning, pulled out the braid she didn't bother to take out the night before, seeing the waves in her hair.
the feeling from the night before hadn't left overnight. it still sat heavy on her shoulders, killing her motivation to do anything. as she dragged herself down the stairs luna stepped out of the kitchen.
"hey sleeping beauty" she grinned, but lynn was really not in the mood. "there's a breakfast burrito in the fridge" the older loud announced. "i'm not hungry" the athlete muttered. "well if your going to practise you need to eat" she tried convincing her as she saw her starting to tie her shoes on, but was ignored.
lynn had no idea how long she practised, but all the energy she didn't really have in the first place had been used up, that's for sure. not that training until she was exausted helped in any way, but at least she got her reps in.
she saw there was a few unopened messages that she most likely wasn't going to respond to within the next 2 weeks, but decided to see who had sent them anyway.
in the middle of the list of names she could see the one that once made her stomach flip, but now made it drop. she was about to swipe away to get her mind off the topic and keep eating the cereal she'd made herself, seeing one of her siblings had eaten the burrito luna talked about, but then saw the name of her rockstar sister on the list as-well.
luna was not going to let go of her sister's behaviour, knowing something was up. instead of walking around the whole house to find her she texted her instead. it took a few minutes before she got a reply, but 12 minutes was definitely not bad thinking about how long lynn has had her on delivered before.
luna come to my room now
lynn no?
luna don't argue read 1:21
for some reason she listened, so after putting her bowl in the sink she walked up into her big sister's room.
"what's wrong?" she sat down on luans bed on the opposite side of the room where luna was sitting. "i don't know, you tell me" luna tilted her head.
the younger loud stared blankly at her. "come on don't think i didn't notice" that was exactly what lynn meant. she had no idea how luna managed to read her and understand her better than she did herself.
of course luna had noticed her down attitude. "lynn.." her heart ached for her younger sister. lynn let out a sigh, wanting to break, but there was something that held her back. she had opened up way to many times for her liking and telling someone had never helped her in any way. she should probably keep it all to herself, but luna already knew everything.
luna moved from her own bed over to luan's next to her sister. it was silent for a moment before they both opened their mouth to speak at the same time, but luna instantly closed hers, ready to listen to what the girl dressed in red was going to say.
"nessa told me she liked me yesterday" lynn said short and simply. luna grinned. "you know i hate to say, but i told you so" she smiled proudly, but the look on lynn's face didn't look half as happy as hers.
"isn't that good?" her brows furrowed. she did everything to hold back the mix of emotions and not let it blow off on luna. "no! because she was drunk and laughing about something with her friend like 2 minutes earlier so it was probably a dare or something!" the hurt in her voice was clear, but luna only continued asking questions. "vanessa drinks?" the only reply she got to that was a look on lynn's face that said 'not the point'.
silence filled the room again before the rockstar stood up like she was about to leave the room, but lynn still sat on the yellow checkered bedsheets. "drunk words are sober thoughts" was all she said before walking out, leaving her all alone.
vanessa had no idea that what she had said the night before had stained into lynn's mind as much as it did. her memory from friday night was like a puzzle where half of the pieces were missing, but something she did remember was texting lynn. it was currently sunday and she still hadn't replied. it couldn't be because of what she said, right?
maybe she just hadn't seen her message or something. the second that thought crossed her mind she felt a wave of embarrassesment wash over her. why was she expecting lynn to go out of her way to talk to her? she was fully aware that lynn had a life that consisted of other things than checking her phone for messages from nessa all day.
her eyes scanned the words a million times, but nothing changed.

she tried to not let it take up to much of her time before having to go back to school the next day, but unfortunately that failed. out of the 14 hours that was left of the day, she probably spent 12 of them thinking about the topic, but at least she would see lynn at school and hopefully hear an explanation that was much more logical than all the ones she'd made up herself.
