Monday had arrived like the speed of light. The email had told me that I'd be starting my work on a Monday.
I had decided to dress as beautiful as I could on my first day of work in a very famous company. I was going to be working as the personal assistant and secretary of a billionaire. A BILLIONAIRE. I had never even seen a millionaire but I'd be standing side by side with not just any billionaire, but Don Jones, a multi billionaire.
I walked inside the company, heading straight to Dina who smiled at me. "Wow Eri, you go the job?"
"Yes, I'm so happy." I took the pen, wrote my name and the time. "Please where's my office?"
"It's on the last floor."
"Thanks." I dropped the pen, about to leave before Dina's words stopped me
"You know, you should be coming more early. You're late and Mr Jones hate people coming late."
"I'm not late." That was surprising to hear, I even thought I had come too early so I would not cause any problem on my first day of work.
"It's 8:14" She said like I had not just finished writing the time.
"Yeah and work starts 9 right?" I felt my heart racing faster. Did work not start 9? Had I guessed wrong?
"No, where did you get that from? Work starts 8."
"What?" I quickly ran to the elevator, pressing the button multiple times, this was my first day of work and I was late. I could not risk losing this job. I needed it.
The elevator opened and a few people walked out of it while I rushed in, pressing the 30th floor. "Come on move faster you this elevator." It was frustrating how an elevator could take a million years to finally ding.
As soon as it opened, I ran out of it, rushing to door of the office I was sure was Mr Jones' as it was decorated differently.
Miss Donna had let me know that we'd be staying in the same office and once I put my business card in some thing, the door would open.
I removed my business card from the same handbag I had bought for the interview. I inserted the card in the hole, and the door opened. I placed my business card back in the bag.
I took a deep breath before grabbing the door handle and pulling it. I closed it shut as soon as I was inside the prodigious office.
It had everything needed in an office. The walls were also glass and the view from up here was even more breath-taking.
"Why are you late?" A deep and cold voice called. I had not even noticed the man sitting on the chair in front of the table that lay close to the wall.
I stared at him and my goodness, was this how handsome Don Jones was? Nobody told me he was this hot. He had well defined jawlines, a prominent nose and high cheekbones that made me wonder how on earth a man could been so damn gorgeous.
He had smooth and straight black hair that fell on his forehead. I only realized I had been staring at his full and perfectly shaped black eyebrows when they furrowed to form a frown. I stared at his eyes and he held my gaze with those devilish dark blue eyes.
I froze at his gaze. What was I supposed to say.
"I asked you a question." His voice was stern and caused shivers of fear to run down my spine.
"I-I," I had no idea what happened to my voice. His glare did no good in calming me down. I clutched on to the handle of my bag tight. When I finally found my voice, I managed a "I'm sorry sir." I felt it would be better if I kept my head on the floor.
"Sorry?" I didn't know what he was doing as I wasn't staring at him but when I heard buttons, I guessed he was dialling a number. "Miss Donna, could you come to my office?"
About two minutes of me just standing there and staring at him type aggressively on the keyboard of the poor laptop, a knock came from the door. "Come in." He still maintained the sternness in his tone.
I kept on praying silently that I hadn't lost my job, that'd be the worst thing to ever happen. The first day of one's job is the last day. Suzy and Rose would be so disappointed and most especially, I wouldn't be able to raise the money for Suzy's surgery.
Miss Donna opened the door, walking in. She stared at me and her expression read 'what have you done'.
"You called for me Mr Jones." She said in such a formal tone I wondered if I could speak similarly.
"What is this you got for me?" He asked, his voice not loud but enough to instill fear in someone.
Did he just use 'what' for me? I could already sense that working here would need a lot of getting used to, that is if I'm not fired already.
"I apologize sincerely for her mistake." She said with a small bow of the head.
"I think you need to teach her how working here is."
"Will do sir."

I was sitting opposite Miss Donna who stared at me in surprise. "Miss Eri, I think there are a lot of things you still need to know about working here with Mr Jones. How could you come late on your first day of work?""I'm really sorry about that, I thought work started 9 o clock." I don't know why I thought that, but that just felt correct.
She heaved a sigh, handing me a pile of paper stapled together.
"What is this?" I asked, when I took it from her hand, trying to study it.
"I want you to know that I was Mr Jones personal assistant and secretary before you, and as soon as you start your work today, I would be leaving the company so I'm going to pitch you on things." She rested both elbows on the table, intertwining her fingers together.
"A personal assistant to the Jones family is a very big deal. You will be with Mr Jones everytime and you will hear every of his secrets, you will know things no one else is supposed to know about." The way she said it sounded suspicious. Was Mr Jones in some illegal act or something?
"And you should know that you'd be with him most of the times of your day," she continued, "and since you'd be listening to most of his conversations, you'd need to sign this that I handed to you. It says that no matter how much you hear of Mr Jones conversation, you must and must never say it to anyone." The way she made it sound only made me doubt if this was a good idea. Was I probably involving myself in a criminal act?
"If you tell anyone about anything you hear, you'll be arrested." She said, and at that point I was already considering backing out.
What if I hear he killed someone and I report it, I'd be arrested too for doing the right thing. I stared at the paper in my hand, this was probably not a good idea, I could find another way to get the money. "You salary would be $10000 per month considering the fact that you'd be spending a whole lot of your time in work."
With that I jerked my head to face her. $10000. What! That was way more than I had ever gotten in a year. With that, I could get the money for Suzy's surgery in less than 6 months. Who cared if he was some Mafia boss or something. I was getting my money for keeping my mouth shut, so what the fuck is my problem. Money is Money.
