-Don Jones-

My eyes opened slowly. I reached for my phone on the desk beside it, turning it on to check the time. It was 1:23 a.m.

I sighed, sitting straight on the bed. Sleeping was difficult when you knew you were the reason your wife almost died three times.

I turned to the beauty sleeping peacefully beside me. It hurt to wonder how traumatized she probably felt.

She was probably regretting having met me and truth be told, I didn't blame her.

She was too beautiful to experience such hurt.

The fact June was still out there somewhere made me more worried. I planned on protecting Eri with my whole life.

She hadn't left me yet, and for that, I'd give my whole life to make her not regret it.

Her hair was flying everywhere on her head and no matter how much I wanted to brush the little strands that lay on her face, I didn't want to disturb her sleep as sleep must've been difficult to obtain.

Instead, I silently got off the bed, then headed to the balcony.

Staring at the night light outside, I just couldn't help but wonder where June lay in this big world. What she was planning at the moment. If she was going to be found.

I hated the fact I even had an encounter with June. If we didn't know each other, none of this would be happening to Eri.

I sighed, resting on the rails of the balcony. This had to end, and it had to end soon.

“What's wrong?” Her voice ran through my earring, causing me to turn to the figure that stood resting on the frame of the door.

Although her hair was messy, she was still the most beautiful person I'd ever set my eyes on.

Just her sight in that white robe brought a smile to my face. “Did I wake you up?”

“No, I just wanted to pee.” She walked towards me, stopping beside me. “Are you alright?”

I nodded weakly. “Yeah, you should go back to sleep.”

But she didn't leave and just stared at me like she was trying to read through me. “I'm okay Don, June can't do a thing to harm me or our relationship.”

She sounded so confident, my love for her grew wider.

“I'm very sorry you have to face all this.” I said with utmost sincerity.

She placed her right hand on my hair, running her fingers down to my neck. “I know.”

I pulled her to a deep embrace. I didn't want this to end. The feeling of her in my hand. The love we both felt for each other. I didn't want it to end.

“Really? Don't you think you're rushing things?” I took a sip of the glass of wine the maid had dropped on the table in front of me.

“I mean, taking her to meet your parents seems like a lot of pressure.” I told Darien truthfully.

He took a sip of his wine. “I didn't say it in a way like the next thing’s marriage.” He made it sound like I was stupid for not grabbing what was supposed to be obvious.

“Still, I feel like you two staying in Canada alone and taking her to see your parents is like a lot of pressuring.” I said my mind out.

I was in Darien's place and although it wasn't as huge as mine, it was still huge and wealth-looking.

“Well, I hope she doesn't feel that way.” He muttered but I caught it and we were left in an awkward silence.

“So uh…” Darien trailed off after breaking the silence I thought would last forever. “How're things going with Eri and stuff?”

He was obviously hesitant to say those words but when they'd come out of his mouth, the knife that'd been in my heart dug deeper.

I sighed in exhaustion. “June's still not been found and it's a cause of concern. I really don't know what to do, I mean I don't want anything to happen to Eri, she's my life, my dream and future. Nothing must happen to her.”

I clenched my fist as to what possible things June could do and what I could do to her if I were to meet her.

“I understand. I don't know how the fuck that girl turned to who she is.” He shook his head. “She's a psycho.”

“No doubt about that.” I took another sip of the wine, hoping it'd cure the headache I felt. “And she's terribly good at hiding. I mean, where the fuck could she be in this huge world?”

“Just make sure Eri goes nowhere without about a billion security.”

“I don't need to be told twice.” I rested deeper into his soft sofa. “I've made the mistake three times, I ain't doing it again.”

“And I sincerely hope you don't.”

Silence again. This time, I broke it. “What would you have done if you were in my place? I mean, if June was after Rose.”

He widened his eyes as though the thought of that itself was frightening. “I wouldn't be having a drink with my best friend, instead I'd be in the police station, finding out every progress and I'd send about a billion guards to search for her.”

It made me feel like a bad husband, but I had to admit, his idea was smart.

“Thanks man, I'd send lots of guards to search for her.”

Eri must be safe. June must be found. Everything must work out well for Eri and I.
