“Hane, do you think I look pretty enough? This is my first time going to a dinner party with millionaires and billionaires.” I checked myself in the mirror, twirling to see if the wine knee length gown that popped out my curves was best for the dinner party.

When Don had told me one of his friends had invited him to a dinner party here in Australia and that I was going to come with him, I was so nervous.

I'd never been to a rich person's dinner party, I had no idea how to dress for such occasion.

Hane had assisted me in dressing. She picked my dress for me, and was going to help with my hair and makeup.

“Trust me, you're going to leave all the men drooling with that dress.

I chuckled. “Thanks.”

I sat on the chair in front of the mirror while Hane walked towards me to start doing my makeup.

“Are you sure you can do these things? Makeup and hair?”

“Yes, trust me I'd make you look like the prettiest female in that party. All the male would leave their partners to come have a word with you.”

“Okay then, if you say so.”

When she was done with my hair and makeup, I stared at myself in the mirror. “Oh my goodness, is this me?”

I was awed at how beautiful she made me look. She'd curled my hair and done the most beautiful makeup I'd ever seen.

“You bet.”

“Woah.”

“Come on let's go, I'm sure Mr Jones would be waiting for us, we have to be there in thirty minutes.” Hane smiled, probably admiring my beauty.

I stood up from the chair then the both of us ambulated out of Hane's room to the elevator.

Hane pressed the button and we both sauntered in, pressing the button to mine and Don's floor.

The door closed. “Gosh you look so beautiful, I can't wait for us to get to the party, I really want to see the looks on everyone when you arrive.” Hane said, a warm smile planted on her face.

“Thank you.”

When the doors separated, Don was standing in front of the elevator and my goodness, he looked so handsome.

He was wearing a white shirt with a black suit and trouser, topped up with an obviously expensive black shoe and a Rolex watch.

He scanned me from head to toe with a blank expression. Did he find me pretty or what?

“Why didn't you come early?” That stern tone.

“I'm sorry, I didn't know we took that much time.” I apologized.

“Are you ready? Let's go.”

“Let me go grab my phone and purse.”

***
I had expected the dinner party to be done outside a mansion, like in the garden or something where all the guests would round the dining table, but that was nothing close to what was happening.

It was inside a very beautiful mansion, with lots of round white glass tables that had 4 white chairs surrounding it.

Outside of the mansion was also beautiful. I had sighted a very huge and beautiful book at the back of the mansion, there was also a garden and the compound was captivating.

A man walked towards us. He looked about a similar age as Don. “Hey Don, thanks a lot for coming.”

“Thanks for inviting me Ash.”

The man I now knew to be Ash turned to me. “You must be his wife, the anonymous fiancee, Eri.” He stretched forth his hand for a handshake which I offered.

“Yes.”

“I'm Ash, your husband's friend from highschool.”

He withdrew from the handshake. “Please go have a seat and enjoy yourselves. All our old pals from school are around.”

“Sure thing.” Don started walking to one of the empty tables and both Hane and I followed.

Hane had come with us as my personal maid to help me with anything I needed and to follow me around since we didn't bring any bodyguard with us.

It was the most boring party I'd ever been to. Don was just making out with some old friends. After he introduced me to them as his wife and they say their ‘hi’ and ‘she’s so beautiful', they'd forget about my existence and start talking about whatever they wanted to.

Also, there was music playing from the speakers and our foods were being served. This was not how a dinner party should be like.

When I'd reached the peak of boredom, I decided to check out the parts outside the house, maybe the compound, garden, pool, anything to just get me out of this boring place.

I excused myself from their presence, not like they would even notice I was gone.

I noticed Hane ambling behind me and pivoted to her.

“There's no need to follow me, I just want to check out the place.” I had to say it louder than normal, because of the music.

“Are you sure? Wouldn't you want to talk to someone or something?” Hane asked.

“There’s no need, I'd be fine.” With that she turned, sauntering back to the party.

I continued walking, admiring the compound. It was even prettier than Don's mansion.

I went to the back of the mansion where the beautiful pool lay. I wished I could swim, not that I was going to take off my cloth to start swimming.

I stared at my reflection in the dead water. I still looked pretty.

Before I rose my head to keep on moving, I noticed someone else's reflection behind me.

Before I could even pivot to see the person or say anything, I felt a hand land on my back, pushing me with so much force, I flew into the pool.

My goodness, what was happening?

I couldn't swim up to safety. My heart was throbbing. I tried to push myself up to the surface but it only felt like I was sinking back down.

“Help!” I managed to scream when I lifted my head and mouth out of the water but I could not stay afloat for long. I felt myself slipping away.

I had to hold my breath, thrashing my arms and legs widely to find something I could hold on to, anything, but there was none.

I felt my eyes tear up from holding my breath too long. I couldn't hold it anymore, I had to breathe.

Once I made the terrible decision to let go of my breath, breathing in, a lot of water ran into my nose like they were waiting for the moment I'd give in.

The water in my nose had affected my chest, I needed to cough it out, but instead I was bringing more into my body. I could no longer do anything.

I was too weak to even try come up. The water was pulling me down. My throat was water filled and I could already feel myself going.

What would happen to Suzy and Rose? They'd be devastated. Would they ever heal? Would Rose be able to take care of Suzy?

And what about Don? Would he forget me so easily? Is this how I was going to die? Without even being sure whether or not I feel the same way Don does, or even telling him I know how he felt.

I thought of my mom, and for a moment I thought I heard her call my name.

The water had taking over my body. This was it, I felt my eyes close and I went to blackout.
