-Don Jones-

I stared at her bewildered expression, her chest rising and falling rapidly. Her cheeks had turned red.

I had to hold back my laughter. When she'd said we won't have any physical contact, I obviously didn't want such with her either, it's not like this is some kind of love marriage or something.

I had decided to just check her reaction if I were to wrap my arms round her waist, pretending to attempt to kiss her.

I had actually not expected this to be her reaction. I thought she was going to push me away, cussing at me or something but staring at her, I guessed I preferred this reaction from her.

As I leaned closer to her, our lips few inches from each other, I suddenly felt a pinch of nervousness.

I leaned closer, our lips not touching but brushing our cheeks together until my lips met her ears.

“Do you mean this close?” I whispered, feeling the heat from her skin.

“Huh?” Her voice was low, it sounded like she didn't understand what I said at first, but when I drifted apart from her releasing her waist, she looked discombobulated.

“Oh uh, yeah.” Colors were rising to her cheek and I couldn't help but smile. She was cute.

“Is there anything else?” I asked, knowing fully well she was not going to say anything as she seemed to still be composing herself.

“No, not one I can think of now.”

“Okay then,” I turned around ambling to my room.

“So what are the efforts made by the members in the trillion dollar company mission.”

I had the phone placed between my shoulder and ear, while checking out on the company's trade situation, on my laptop.

I couldn't go to work because apparently, if I started going to work a day after my wedding, the media would have something to talk about.

I had to work from home. Thankfully, the office I had at home was similar to that in work, just a little smaller and the walls were made of bricks. The view up here was also not so breathtaking.

“There has been a suggestion to invest about 35 percent of our stocks to the Jonzx project in Australia, as it has been confirmed that Australians depend more on our goods than the Americans.”

I wasn't sure if that was a good idea. 35 percent of the stock was a large amount, very large amount. If this was to fall through, it'd be a huge loss. Would I really take such risk?

“Uh Mr Sal—” I was interrupted by a knock from the door.

“Come in.”

The door opened, a maid walked in, head bowed as expected.

“What do you want?”

“Uh, Mrs Jones is heading out.”

What is she doing? Why is she heading out? What if the media see her or something? She doesn't reason before acting.

“Sir, are you still there?” I only realized Mr Sal was still on the line.

I stood up, hanging up from the call without caring about his thoughts.

“Where is she?”

“The first parlor sir.”

I sighed, ambulating out if the room to the parlor where she was, walking towards the door.

I might not have cared if she was dressed more rich, but she was dressed in the gown she had worn this morning that I'd totally not approved of.

If the media saw her dressed any how, they'd obviously suspect something. There are already rumors flying around that she wasn't supposed to be my wife.

“And where do you think you're going missy.” She stopped at the sound of my voice, turning around to sight me walking towards her.

Her brows creased to a frown. It was obvious she didn't want me to know she was heading out.

I stopped at a comfortable gap between us.

“I want to visit Rose, a friend of mine.”

“Have you forgotten who you are?”

She folded her arms across her chest, the frown not leaving her face. “What do you mean?”

“You're my wife.” Saying that out loud made me cringe. “Everyone knows who you are you can't just be seen anywhere.”

“I don't care, I want to visit her and I'm going to do that.”

“You know you've signed a contract to not do anything that could give a hint to the media that we're not a real couple.”

“Yes, but it didn't say I can't go to a friend's place.” Her trying to act bossy was killing me, had she forgotten who I am.

“Suzy's surgeon called to say the surgery was a success.” I had said it to remind her what I did for her in this marriage and why she must listen to me, but then her expression changed.

Her hands dropped and her face softened. What was happening? Tears hovered in her eyes.

Was she about to cry? Before I could make any other moves, she covered her face with both palms, sobbing loudly.

I'd never been more confused. What did I say wrong? I just wanted her to know her place.

I knew I couldn't just stand there and watch her cry I had to do something. I walked towards her, holding both her wrist with both hands, dropping them from her face.

Her eyes were tear-filled and face red with emotions. “Are you okay?”

She threw her arms round my neck, raising her leg so she could rest her head on my shoulder and started sobbing on it.

“Thank you, thank you so much.”

The embrace had come as a surprise so at first I wasn't sure if to hug her back, but then I finally wrapped my arms around her waist and she was just sobbing on my shoulder.

“I've been trying to find the money for a while and—” I didn't understand what she was saying anymore as it all came out through tears.

When we pulled apart from the kiss, she apologized, already getting her composure. “I'm sorry, it's just that I'm so thankful.” She started crying again.

I placed both palms on both cheeks, wiping her tears with my thumb. Our gaze met, those hazel colored eyes doing weird things to my stomach and heart.

For a moment, staring at those lips, I thought of leaning to kiss her but instead I placed my left hand gently at the back of her hair, pulling her to rest her head on my chest so she could sob there.

I just hoped she couldn't feel my racing heart. Why on earth was it beating so fast? She's just like every other girl I'd seen. What was the problem?
