It was a lazy Saturday afternoon, and the sun streamed through the windows of Jess's apartment, casting warm, golden light across the room. Alessia was sprawled out on the couch, flipping through a magazine, while Jess was lounging on the armchair, pretending to read a book but mostly just watching her.
Jess, ever the instigator, decided it was time to break the silence. "Hey, Alessia. Did you dream about me last night?" he asked with a mischievous grin.
Alessia glanced up, smirking. "No, but I did dream about flying shoes."
Jess laughed. "Sounds like you indirectly dreamt about me."
"Yeah, because you're such a shoe," Alessia shot back, rolling her eyes playfully.
Jess put his book down and leaned forward. "I'm serious, you probably did. Admit it, you can't get me out of your head."
Alessia pretended to think for a moment. "Well, I did have a nightmare about a really annoying guy. That counts, right?"
Jess chuckled and shook his head. "You know, sometimes I want you to burn in hell."
Alessia gasped dramatically and then grinned. "I would just become hotter than I already am." She paused for effect. "Get it? Do you get it, Jess? Because hell is hot and—"
Jess groaned and threw a cushion at her. "Stop with the terrible jokes!"
Alessia caught the cushion and laughed. "You walked right into that one."
"I regret everything," Jess said, shaking his head but smiling.
They continued their playful banter, each teasing the other in turn. Jess, ever the instigator, began tossing cushions at Alessia until the living room was a mess of soft projectiles.
"Jess, stop it!" Alessia laughed, trying to shield herself with a cushion.
"Make me," Jess challenged, a mischievous glint in his eyes.
Alessia lunged for him, but Jess was too quick. He darted around the room, using furniture as obstacles until Alessia was out of breath.
"Okay, okay, truce!" she panted, collapsing back onto the couch.
Jess sat beside her, still chuckling. "You give up too easily."
"Maybe because you're annoying," Alessia shot back, though her tone was more amused than irritated.
Jess nudged her shoulder. "You love it."
Alessia rolled her eyes but smiled. "Sure, keep telling yourself that."
Suddenly, the door swung open, and Luke walked in. He froze mid-step, taking in the scene of cushions strewn everywhere and the two of them out of breath from their pillow fight.
"What on earth is going on here?" Luke asked, raising an eyebrow.
Jess and Alessia exchanged guilty glances before bursting into laughter.
"Just a friendly pillow fight," Jess said, trying to look innocent.
Luke sighed and shook his head. "I don't even want to know. Just make sure you clean up this mess before it spreads to the diner."
"We will," Alessia promised, still giggling.
Luke gave them one last exasperated look before heading to the kitchen. "You two are impossible," he muttered, though there was a hint of a smile on his face.
As Luke disappeared into the kitchen, Jess and Alessia resumed their playful banter, the earlier interruption only adding to the fun of their lazy Saturday afternoon.
