The afternoon sun cast a warm glow over Stars Hollow as Alessia and Jess strolled through the park after detention. The town, with its usual charm, seemed almost magical under the golden light. They had spent the past hour wandering around, talking about everything and nothing, their conversation punctuated by laughter and playful banter.

"I still can't believe we actually went through with that," Jess remarked, a smirk playing on his lips.

Alessia laughed. "Of course. Someone had to rescue those poor frogs."

"Yeah, someone had to," Jess replied, his tone dripping with sarcasm. "And that someone ended up with detention."

"Totally worth it," Alessia said, grinning. "Besides, it was fun watching you try to act innocent."

Jess shrugged, his hands stuffed into his pockets. "Hey, I'm an innocent guy."

"Sure you are," Alessia teased. "So, about that book you promised me..."

Jess's eyes lit up. "Oh yeah, almost forgot." He reached into his backpack and pulled out a worn copy of "Catcher in the Rye." "Here you go."

Alessia took the book, her eyes shining with excitement. "Thanks, Jess. I've been wanting to read this."

"Just don't expect it back in mint condition," Jess warned. "That book's been through a lot."

"Books are meant to be read, not kept pristine," Alessia said, hugging the book to her chest. "So, what made you choose Stars Hollow, of all places?"

"It wasn't exactly a choice. More like a 'get out of dodge' situation," Jess replied, his voice casual.

"Ah, the infamous New York adventures," Alessia said with a knowing smile. "Must be quite the change."

"It is," Jess admitted. "But it's not all bad. This place has its...charms."

Alessia rolled her eyes. "You mean it's not completely boring?"

Jess smirked. "Exactly."

They reached the gazebo and sat on one of the benches, the silence between them comfortable. Jess looked at her, his expression softening. "You know, you're not like the other people around here."

"Oh? And how's that?" Alessia asked, tilting her head in curiosity.

"You're...real. You don't pretend to be something you're not," Jess said, his gaze steady.

Alessia felt a warmth spread through her at his words. "Thanks, Jess. That's probably the nicest thing anyone's said to me in a while."

Jess shrugged, trying to play it cool. "Just calling it like I see it."

There was a pause, the air thickening with a hint of unspoken feelings. Alessia cleared her throat, breaking the moment. "Hey, want to come over to my place? We could watch a movie or something."
