As Rory rushed out of her room, Alessia stood in front of the mirror, adjusting her cardigan over a light blue tank top and smoothing down her plaid skirt. It was casual but cute—enough to look nice for the drive to her grandparents' vow renewal, knowing she'd change into something more formal at the venue.
She tugged at the edge of her cardigan, feeling that familiar unease that came with any "Gilmore" family event.
A soft knock sounded on her door. "Alessia?" Luke's voice called from the hallway.
"Yeah, come in," she replied, turning toward the door as Luke stepped inside.
He gave her a once-over, his usual gruff expression softening a little. "You look nice," he said in a fatherly tone, though it came out a little awkward, as if he wasn't used to giving compliments.
Alessia blinked, a little surprised, then offered a small smile. "Thanks, Luke."
He shifted slightly, rubbing the back of his neck. "You ready for today? Big family event and all."
Alessia shrugged, trying to sound more casual than she felt. "It's a Gilmore thing. Nerves kind of come with the territory."
Luke chuckled lightly. "Yeah, I get that. But you'll be fine. You always manage to hold your own."
She looked at him, a little taken aback by his words. "Thanks," she said quietly, not used to that kind of support from anyone other than Rory.
Luke hesitated for a moment, then added, "You know, I'm here if you need me. Not just today. You're part of the family too."
Alessia blinked, surprised again by his sincerity. She smiled softly. "I appreciate that, Luke."
Before anything else could be said, Lorelai's voice called from downstairs. "We gotta go! Rory, Alessia, let's move! We're already late!"
Alessia rolled her eyes but smiled as she grabbed her bag. "Duty calls."
As Luke gave her a final nod, she stepped out of her room and headed for the stairs. "Wait, has anyone seen my lip gloss?" she called, pausing halfway down.
"Which one?" Rory's voice drifted up from below.
"The sparkly Venom one!" Alessia replied, a hint of impatience in her tone.
There was a brief silence before Rory responded, "Oh, yeah... I think I took it to school by accident!"
Alessia let out a sigh, shaking her head as she continued down the stairs. "At least it's safe."
Lorelai grinned as she stood by the door, already looking impatient. "Well, at least the sacred lip gloss is accounted for. We'll change when we get there. Now let's go before Mom starts sending search parties."
Alessia shot a smile at her mother and joined them, the familiar tension of a Gilmore family event lingering but lightened slightly by Luke's quiet reassurance.
