The air was electric as the crowd settled in for the first home game of the season. The Hawks were up against the Blue Devils—a team known for their rough play—and the anticipation was palpable. Alessia found a seat close to the glass, eager to watch her friends play. As she took a seat near the front, she found herself scanning the lineup for the other players Riley had mentioned to her earlier.

There was Leo, a wiry forward with a wild look in his eyes, muttering something under his breath while he practiced his shots. Each puck flew toward the net like a bullet, and Alessia winced as she remembered Riley telling her how Leo once fractured a goalie's pinky with a shot.

Near him, Quinn, a stocky defender with a permanent scowl etched on his face, skated with precision, his strides smooth and powerful. Alessia could sense his fierce energy from the stands. Riley had mentioned that Quinn got put in the penalty box almost every game, but that he was fiercely protective of his teammates, especially Avery.

Avery was easy to spot—slimmer than the others, with a gracefulness in his movements that made him stand out. Alessia knew he used to be an ice skater before switching to hockey, and it showed in the way he maneuvered around the ice. He moved with a fluidity that was almost hypnotic. She also noticed that Quinn kept an eye on him, subtly positioning himself to cover Avery whenever they practiced breakaways.

Julie, the goalie, stood in front of the net with fierce concentration, blocking shot after shot. Even from the stands, Alessia could see the determination in her posture. Julie was known for her aggressive style and her no-nonsense attitude; she was already trash-talking a few of the Blue Devils, the opposing team, as they skated by.

From the first face-off, the game had a steady rhythm. Both teams were feeling each other out, testing their strategies. Beau and Riley worked seamlessly, always seeming to know where the other would be. They kept the puck moving fast, keeping the Blue Devils on their toes. Quinn skated backward, positioning himself perfectly to protect the Hawks' side, his movements controlled and precise.

Julie, the Hawks' goalie, watched the action unfold from her post, blocking a few early attempts with a focused intensity. Leo darted through the Blue Devils' defense, looking for openings, while Avery weaved his way around with his nimble skating, using his smaller frame to slip through gaps that others couldn't.

The game remained relatively calm, both teams finding their footing. The Blue Devils were playing aggressively, but the Hawks kept their cool, focusing on their teamwork rather than matching the roughness. Alessia cheered from her seat, noticing how well Riley and Beau were communicating on the ice—short, sharp glances and quick hand signals that kept the puck moving toward the Blue Devils' goal.

The first goal came halfway through the period. Leo spotted an opening and passed the puck to Riley, who took a quick shot on goal. The Blue Devils' goalie barely deflected it, and the rebound landed at Beau's skates. With a swift flick, Beau sent the puck sailing into the net. The crowd erupted into cheers as the Hawks took the lead. Riley grinned at Beau, their gloved hands bumping together in a quick, satisfied fist bump.
