The room was filled with a charged silence as Rory stood across from Alessia, arms crossed tightly over her chest. The disbelief on her face was palpable, her eyes sharp as she waited for some kind of explanation. Alessia sat on Rory's bed, running her fingers through her hair, trying to figure out how to start.
"I know you're confused," Alessia began softly, her voice barely above a whisper.
Rory's eyes narrowed. "That's an understatement. You disappeared for days, Alessia. Days. What happened?"
Alessia bit her lip, trying to find the right words. "I... went off with Logan."
Rory blinked, her arms falling to her sides as the shock registered on her face. "Logan? Logan Huntzberger? What-since when do you two even know each other like that?"
"It's kind of a long story," Alessia replied, her heart beating faster under Rory's intense gaze. "But yeah... Logan, Colin, Finn. They showed up that morning and... I went with them."
Rory stared at her for a moment, clearly grappling with this new information. "Wait-Logan's friends too? Colin and Finn? Since when did you start hanging out with them?"
Alessia sighed, feeling a wave of guilt wash over her. "It wasn't planned. You were still asleep, and they just... knocked on the door. Next thing I knew, I was caught up in this whirlwind. It was crazy, Rory. I didn't even realize how long I'd been gone."
Rory's expression softened for a moment, but confusion lingered. "So, you've been with them this entire time?"
Alessia nodded. "Yeah. We jumped off of a scaffold, went to some wild party... and I just lost track of everything. It was fun, but I know I should've told you."
Rory sat down heavily on the edge of her bed, her eyes still wide in disbelief. "I just can't believe you didn't tell me. I mean, Logan Huntzberger?" She paused, shaking her head. "What's going on with you two?"
Alessia hesitated, the question hanging in the air. "I don't know," she finally admitted. "There's... something. A connection, I guess. But it's not like we're together or anything. We're just... I don't know. It's complicated."
Rory bit her lip, clearly processing the new information. Her eyes flickered with something Alessia couldn't quite place-surprise, maybe jealousy, or just confusion. "I didn't even know you two talked, let alone... whatever this is."
"It's still new," Alessia said, trying to reassure her. "We're not... I mean, nothing's really happened. Not yet, anyway."
Rory was quiet for a moment, her brow furrowing as she tried to make sense of it all. "Alessia, Logan's not the kind of guy who does serious. He's-he's Logan. He dates a lot of girls. He's charming, and fun, but he's not exactly boyfriend material. You know that, right?"
Alessia's heart tightened at the warning in Rory's voice, but she nodded. "I know. Trust me, I'm not expecting anything serious."
Rory sighed, rubbing her temples. "I just didn't see this coming. You and Logan... it feels like I blinked and suddenly, everything changed."
Alessia glanced down, unsure of how to respond. She could feel the tension growing, not just because of her sudden disappearance, but because of Logan. It wasn't lost on her that Rory had feelings for him too, even if she hadn't said it outright.
"I'm sorry, Rory," Alessia said softly. "I didn't mean to keep you in the dark. It just... happened."
Rory looked up at her, her expression softening slightly. "I know. But Logan? He's... he's complicated, Alessia. Just be careful, okay?"
Alessia nodded, though her mind was swirling with thoughts she couldn't quite put into words. There was more to Logan than just charm, but Rory was right. He wasn't someone to pin your hopes on.
The room was thick with unspoken tension, the conversation far from resolved.
