Sci just wants a peaceful life but of course he is forced to deal with all these insane monsters.
When will he finally be free from this insanity?!———
Shattered? Multiverse
Sci broke out in cold sweat when he walked into his lab and saw who was there, it growing worse at the near venomous look Nightmare was gifting him, unsure what he had even done. He was used to dealing with Ink who would just barge into his space like they owned it, asking demanding something before leaving just as quickly.
He had rarely dealt with the Negativity Guardian when they had still been corrupted and he had been perfectly happy with that arrangement, feeling he had far too much stress in his opinion to be dealing with that craziness as well.
He knew many would kill to be in such a 'prestigious' position of having regular contact with the 'higher powers' but he would happily throw that all away if he could get some peace and quiet again.
"We need you to check over Shattered. He's not been feeling well but i just knew you would be the perfect monster to help!"
Sci felt the sudden urge to hide under the desk and have a good cry, somedays unable to tell if Ink genuinely enjoyed tormenting him or if they were just oblivious to how they could come across.
He wasnt sure which option was worse and the apologetic Blue was giving him hardly helped him discern which it was. He couldnt wait until the day he retired..or dusted, he wasnt picky at this point.
"If you dare use any of your experiments on him i will show you the true meaning of fear"
"NIGHTMARE! BE POLITE! THATS NO WAY TO TALK TO SCI"
"Then he better behave then!"
"WE DON'T THREATEN OTHER PEOPLE!"
"It seems to work fine for me"
Sci felt he needed a strong drink as dark magic filled the air, unsure what idiots had thought that Nightmare was weaker now they weren't covered in corruption. In his opinion they were worse, now able to get the clear view on their expressions that was previously covered by corruption.
He also felt his wariness of Blue only go up, in his opinion only the stupid or highly insane dared to talk back to monsters who could dust them in seconds and couldn't tell which it was with the Swap Sans but made sure to keep his distance either way.
Why did his life have to be so complicated...?!
His shoulders slumped when he realised they wouldn't be leaving anytime soon, grabbing the medical bag he kept on his desk and inwardly crying how he was once again relegated to a role he was in no way qualified for.
At least this time he didn't have to deal with Ink panicking while they held their dismembered arm for an hours, before finally remembering they could just paint it back on. He had learned a lot of patience in this new 'job' and he hated every minute of it.
Ink carefully placed Shattered onto the cot in the corner room, a new addition that he greatly approved of and worriedly looked over the sleeping monster. He wasnt sure if he should bother putting a magical cuff on them again but it seemed Blue had made that decisions for him when he heard the clicking sound beside him.
"ITS JUST IN CASE, INK. YOU KNOW IT DOESNT HURT MONSTERS, SO ITS FINE TO HAVE ON"
Blue said gently, knowing that if Shattered woke up panicked they could deal some serious damage, especially with not everyone in the room being as durable as Ink and Nightmare.
He looked over in confusion to the other corner of the room where Cross and Killer were looking a tad dazed, wondering what was up with them. Surely they should be used to stuff like this considering the years they spent terrorising the multiverse with Nightmare.
Blues view of normality was forever skewered once he saw Ink near unhinge their jaw to try and eat a Temmie, while Dream asked if that was 'normal' or not. He truly didnt miss the early days of their friendship, it almost night and day how much they had grown.
Sci was proud his hands didnt shake as he came over to the cot he had added after the fourth time Ink had landed on his desk with some injury or another, at this point pretty much sleeping in here with how often he was forced to deal with some incident or another.
He took a moment to just stare at the golden corrupted monster, unsure where to even start with how vague the symptoms were before steeling himself to just do something, trying to ignore the dark glare of the other twin.
He went through the usual routine and checked their SOUL beat and breathing rate, only briefly pausing when a golden tentacle wrapped around his wrist when he went near their skull alarmed how it was even summoned with the magic restricting cuff on. He took a shaky breath at how tight it was and near slumped in relief when it let go before it could do any damage.
He had witnessed what Nightmares tentacles were capable of and had no urge to experince that up close.
"They tired themselves out earlier but they are talking out loud to themselves and acting very odd. Any clue of the issue, Sci?"
He twitched at Inks voice over his shoulder, wondering if he would ever get used to how quiet the usually exuberant Creator could be. It was an odd juxtaposition and one he tried not to think on too long as it hurt his mind too much, thinking it as another unknown thing in the multiverse.
"Nothing seems to be off and their magic seems to be recovering just fine"
He said professionally and knew it was pointless to say he had 'zero clue what counted as normal for Guardians'. It was all guess work here but he based it off Ink's and Dreams old results, even if Inks lack of SOUL skewed the results...
He jerked in shock when Shattered abruptly woke up, yelping when he was suddenly pushed out of the way by Nightmare and nearly falling onto the floor if Blue hadn't grabbed his arm to stabilise him.
As he said once before, he hated his job so much..
He watched the odd reunion and felt his SOUL sink once he heard Shattered talk to themselves having hoped that Ink had been exaggerating and glad he was so far back when Shattered spat a glob of magic at Nightmares face before cackling and forming a portal underneath them.
This is why he didnt like working with overpowered monsters!
They had been wearing a magic restricting cuff, yet they acted like it was a simple friendship bracelet!
How the hell did they do that?!
He shakily made his way over to the machine that analysed any magic that came near it, paling at the results but before he could say anything he realised he was all alone again. Without a word he threw the results in the trashcan and set it on fire, pretending he saw nothing.
He refused to get involved in whatever that was, pretty sure he would get nightmares from this..how was Shattered still alive with two SOUL's inside them?!

Sci: *Happily spending his time doing his experiments, oblivious what is to come* LIfe is great. I hope it never changes
Ink: *Soon to burst into their life and never leave, bringing endless stress along with it* Hey Sci. You mind doing a small favour for me? 😃
SCi: *Having a sudden chill when looking at the deceptively innocent expression directed at him*...im going to regret accepting this, arent i?
-
Random monster: *Talking about monsters to be wary about* I'd say Nightmare. What about you?
Sci: *Recalling the many instances of Blue scolding literal gods like they are misbehaving puppies and somehow not be dusted for it*..Blue, hands down
-
*Machine throwing out information on 'Shattered's Condition*
Sci: *Taking one glance and just knowing he would somehow be blamed if he spoke up*..I've been burned too many times. Ignorance truly is bliss
