Prayer 106
Midday Noon Prayer
Almighty God, the psalmist called out to You evening and morning and at noon to utter his complaint (Psalm 55:17), and You heard his voice. Hear my voice also as I cry out to You this midday. In the midst of the battles and struggles that I face, I know that You are with me and will redeem my soul in safety from the things that stand against me.
Grant me courage to trust in You and to faithfully carry out the duties and callings You have given me. You are my refuge and strength. Help me to live the rest of this day as your dearly loved, baptized child, that in all things I may bring glory to Your name, through Jesus Christ our Lord, amen.Prayer 107
Ever found yourself awake at night exactly and midnight and can't get back to sleep?
Here's A Midnight Evening Short Prayer to Pray
Lord Jesus Christ in Your parable of the ten virgins, it was at midnight that the cry went out, "Here is the bridegroom!
Come out to meet him!" (Matthew 25:6). Help me always to be ready and eager for Your return on the Last Day. Grant that my lamp may ever be burning by the power of the Holy Spirit with the flame of faith in You. Grant sleep to my body this night, but never let my soul become drowsy or apathetic regarding the things of Your kingdom. Guard me from doubt. Give zeal to me and all Your people, that we set our hearts on the joys of Your wedding feast, which will have no end. In Your most holy name I pray this amen.Did you know one of our major duties as Christian people is to continually pray for others believing or not all around the world. The some of the prayers in the bottom of this chapters are just doing that. God delights in us through the Holy Spirit when we intercede for others even those we have yet to meet in our physical person to person lives. And the great thing about praying for others helps grow your compassion through God. Many people use to say prayer changes things but Prayer will actually change Your own heart thanks to the power of God's most amazing gift the aid of the Holy Spirit. I've seen three somewhat modern Christian authors come up with the fabulous quote. "Prayer changes You" whether you are a daughter or a son of the Lord Jesus Christ Your Saviour, Your Redeemer, and Rock in times of need."
Prayer 108
Lord God, You gave Your beloved Son the name that means "He saves." You made Him subject to the Law and caused Him to shed His blood on our behalf. Grant us the true circumcision of the Spirit, that our hearts may be made pure. Teach us to honor and glorify His name. We pray through Him who is our Lord, who reigns with You and the Holy Spirit one God now and forever amen. This is the prayer of praise to God on Circumcision Day on the first of January.Prayer 109
God, by the leading of a star, You made known Your only-begotten Son to the Gentiles. Over the next weeks, we will rejoice to meditate on readings that emphasize Jesus as both God and man. Lead us, who know You by faith to enjoy in heaven the fullness of Your divine presence through the same Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit one God now and forever amen.
This is another Epiphany Day prayer for the sixth of January.Prayer 110
Dear Jesus, You did not need Baptism, yet You went to be baptized by John. He resisted: "I need to be baptized by You" (Matthew 3:14).
You were taking the sin of all people on Yourself. You were baptized in order to fulfill God's plan of righteousness for us all. Baptism now saves us. God the Father and the Holy Spirit endorsed what You did for us. Thank You for this precursor of Your crucifixion and resurrection amen. Praise prayer for the day of the Baptism of Jesus Christ on the seventh of January.
All of these last prayers were prayers in my Common Book of Prayers written back in September of 1945 I chose to use this version because their collects were very complicatedly worded. Same is true of the next three days as well.Prayer 111
Loving Creator, Author of life, we thank You for our role in family life and for the gift we share with You in creating others in Your image. May we and our children be in discipleship and friendship with Jesus, who alone is the way, the truth, and the life. May we praise You always. May we teach You to our children and others, not so much by words as by example in Jesus' name amen. The Prayer for the Sanctity of Human Life on January 22nd but I believe this one can actually be prayed at any time of the year, Skylights.Prayer 112
Lord Jesus, You, who were set apart to redeem all people, restored all creation according to Your Father's goodwill. Anna rejoiced at seeing You, and Simeon knew You were the promised Messiah. Mary and Joseph brought You in dedication to Your Father. Thank You for lovingly fulfilling Your calling into death, through the very gates of hell, so we do not cower in God's presence but rejoice in our Immanuel, Jesus, come dwell with us amen. This prayer is for the purification of Mary and Presentation of our Lord on February 2nd. Question to Process: Why did Mary need to be purified? Why do people call it both? Joseph didn't see her as pure when she was with the child that was our Lord? He had to be convinced through the Lord to do something that was in the worldly law of his culture against his family's nature and cultural code.Prayer 113
Jesus, You are the fulfillment of the prophets and the Law. You are the Son of God, who perfectly completed Your mission to usher in the Kingdom until the day when You return as King over all. As we contemplate Your glory, remind us that You know our humanity and came to redeem us, body and soul, and to restore creation under Your perfect reign. Remind us that You are with us in all the highs and lows of this life amen. Prayer for Transfiguration Day on the 11th of February.Prayer 114
General Lenten Season Prayer
Lord Jesus, we recall the hardship You endured in order to eventually end all hardship once and for all. As we live in this time of suffering, remind us that You know our pain. Lead our hearts to repentance, that we may acknowledge our sin and turn from it. Comfort us with peace, that we may follow our Savior where He leads even through death and into eternal life amen.Prayer 115
Ash Wednesday Prayer February 14th
Lord, Your love is vast and deep, but ours is shallow and unfaithful. We rebel against You and betray You in what we think, say, and do and by what we fail to think, say, and do. Forgive us for our lovelessness. Turn our hearts back to You. Cleanse us from our sin, and lead us in Your ways. Guard and keep us as we enter the season of Lent and contemplate Your immense love for us in Jesus' name amen.
Next time you hear someone say that they don't like Valentine's Day or aren't happy on that day regardless of who they are with consider you might be conversing with a Christian whether you are standing or sitting with them remember in the church Season Ash Wednesday is labeled as the Ash Wednesday in their Church calendar. Ash Wednesday like the period of weeks before Christmastime it is a time of reflection for your Christian friends which means they might be slightly anti-social because it's their Ash Wednesday and they are spending more
Prayer 116
Heavenly Father, You blessed the church with Dr. Luther who pointed to the Word and showed that every page points to Jesus Your Son. Keep our hearts and minds fixed on Jesus, in whom we believe by faith alone. Grant that all my work be to Your glory. Thank You for Your Word, which endures forever. Thank You for the beautiful truth of our salvation by Your grace in Jesus' name amen. This is prayer thanking God for one of the best most famous believing people in this current world. Praise the Lord for all the good work done through Martin Luther. And you know what is even cooler he was a German believer in Christ years and years before many of Germany's people went astray in the World Wars. Remember this on February 18th.Prayer 117
Palm Sunday March 24th Prayer
Dear Father in heaven, Your Son, Jesus, rode in lowliness on a borrowed donkey into Jerusalem, humbling Himself and emptying Himself for our sakes. In Your mercy, help us to humbly and patiently walk the way to Calvary with Jesus, that we may also share in His bodily resurrection on the Last Day, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit one God now and forever amen.
