For Right Reception of the Lord's Supper: Heavenly Father, as I approach the communion rail, I am filled with mystery and awe. These pieces of bread, this cup of wine-how can they be You? How can this intimate moment forge a connection between me and You and between me and all who believe in You? I come marveling and inadequate, not fully understanding but trusting in Your invitation. Prepare my heart for Your work in and through Your Holy Table in Jesus' name amen.

Prayer 221
For the Newly Confirmed: Savior, thank You for leading these confirmands to a deeper understanding of You. Thank You for the faithful parents and teachers who have shared the faith with them. Keep these confirmands steadfast in the faith. Keep them constant in their confession of You.
By Your power, help them grow in their trust in You. Lead them to rich service to others in Jesus' name amen.

Prayer 222
For the Lost: Father, You have children everywhere-in churches and in the grocery store, in foreign lands and in our neighborhoods. You love them all the same. Your love is just as fervent for those who don't know You and for those who have met You but rejected You. Use me to show Your love wherever I go so that more may know that You choose them just as they are to be Your sons and daughters in Jesus' name amen.

A Prayer of Thanksgiving: God, I don't thank You enough.
Then again, who could? What words could possibly offer proper thanks for the rich, breathtaking, almost unendurably magnificent gift that is a human life? What words could be enough, what heart bowed in reverence could be adequate to respond to Your choice to make us Yours with nails and a cross? My words are so small. But Your heart is so big. Accept my tiny thanks. You are enough in Jesus' name amen.
