O Lord God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, You have given us the blessings of government and leaders. Guide those in positions of authority to seek Your will. Grant them humility, wisdom, and strength as they serve. Help us to support those who You have placed over us. Give us comfort that no matter what happens here on earth, You are our true leader, our triune God who reigns forever in the name of Jesus amen.

Lord, You guard and keep us out of deep love for us. Thank You for the military, who guards, keeps, and serves us. Give them peace and protection in times of calm and danger. Grant wisdom and strength. Comfort separated families, and give a peace that passes all understanding to those who suffer the loss of loved ones due to conflict and strife. Come again soon to end all wars, so that swords may be beaten into plowshares in Jesus' name amen.

Lord, the world tells us that we need freedom-of speech, from want, and from fear. Through Jesus, You promise us a greater freedom: freedom from slavery to sin. The truth is, Lord, I was in slavery to sin. I was a sinner from my conception. I sin daily and often. But I was baptized to become Your disciple. Now I abide in Your Word. You are the truth; the truth that sets me free. Thank You Lord in Jesus' name amen.

Lord, we pray for missionaries, domestic and foreign, who share Christ anywhere. Send people with vulnerable hurts and experiences, or with wrong perspectives, to the missionaries. Make the hurting open to Your Word. Teach missionaries to know when to speak and when to listen. Help them to walk in boldness rooted in You, standing boldly without fear. Help them to proclaim and demonstrate Your Word in Jesus' name amen.

Lord Jesus, in Your love You would cast down the proud that they may see the sin that separates them from You and then repent. Lovingly make me aware of any pride so that I may not be confirmed in my sin but may confess my sins to You and receive the relief and joy of Your forgiveness. Draw me to You and the promise of forgiveness to all who repent and turn from sin in Jesus' name I pray amen.

Jesus, Lord of nations, for the five thousand years since Noah, nations have waged wars and ended them. Such agreements draw lines on maps, but then leadership changes and treaties of peace rarely last twenty-five years. At Your birth, angels sang of a different kind of peace on earth. On Easter evening, You spoke of peace between God and man. You paid for everlasting peace with God through Your death for our sins on the cross. Give us the true peace of confident faith in You and knowledge of Your headship over all nations in Jesus' name amen.

Creator of the universe, You are Lord of all: omnipotent and omniscient. I cannot know what lies ahead, and I am unsettled because things seem to change all the time. Bad things happen that I cannot fix: people get sick, age, and die. I know that Solomon was right when he wrote, "There is nothing new under the sun" (Ecclesiastes 1:9). Lord, help me be confident in the One who never changes, Jesus Christ, the same yesterday and today and forever in Jesus' name I pray amen.

Word Incarnate, You spoke and all was created. The Scriptures all testify to You and Your saving work for us all. As we read the Bible, grant us Your Spirit, that we may see with eyes of faith and believe in You, our Savior. Until the day when You return, preserve the Scriptures so that all may hear and know that You are the way and the truth and the life in Jesus' name we pray amen.

Lord Jesus, You have given me the great privilege of receiving Your true body and Your life-giving blood for the forgiveness of my sins. Grant that I may not treat this gift lightly, but may receive it with sincere repentance and firm faith. Though I do not deserve a place at Your table, grant me joy in the fellowship of Your altar, and help me to love and forgive others as You have loved and forgiven me in Your name I pray amen.
