SAMARA LEWIS FERNANDEZ POV

Before...

"Samara, hija," my grandfather said when he saw me lying on the couch, crying.

Hindi ako nag-angat ng tingin sa kaniya.

"How long are you going to be like this?!" he asked as he sat down beside me.

"Grandpa, I really miss Lane," I sobbed, and I saw his eyebrows rise in surprise. "I... I couldn't live without her, pakiramdam ko mamatay ako."

He placed a comforting hand on my shoulder. "Is she the person you always mention? The one you say you love? Si Saji ba?" he asked, and I nodded without thinking.

"I love her so much, but our family has caused her so much suffering!" I shouted, bursting into tears again.

My grandfather looked at me with a mix of pity and concern. Alam mo na naawa siya sa akin. He understands me.

"My dear, can't you just forget about her?"

"H-how?" I asked stuttering. "Siya lang po ang gusto kong makasama,"

He took a deep breath. "There are so many good-looking people here in California who would be eager to be with you, and yet you're still so hung up on that woman?" He was incredulous.

"Mahal ko siya, Lolo..."

Hindi agad siya nakasagot sa akin. "But it's been years already? Maghanap ka ng iba rito—"

I shook my head firmly. "She is the only person I want in my life, Grandpa," I said with heartfelt conviction.

My grandfather embraced me tightly and softly patted my shoulder.

"I'm so sorry for making this so difficult for you," he said, his voice filled with genuine sympathy. "If this is what you truly want, then I will help you get back to her. But first, we need to make things right."

"I never did something right, kapag may ginagawa ako palaging mali..."

Tears streamed down my face as I clutched him, struggling to speak through my sobs. "Namimiss ko na siya Lolo," I added. Halos walang lakas ang boses.

"You know it too well that her mother was your father's mistress?"

"And she died because of us, Grandpa. Our family is responsible for her death. It's our fault that Lane was left all alone." Nabasag ang boses ko sa sinabing iyon.

Tumango si Lolo. "Apo..." hinaplos niya ang buhok ko.

"And my mom? She didn't want us to be together. She threatened me, Grandpa. She made it impossible for me and Lane to be together." nanginginig ang boses na saad ko.

Halos hindi ko matingnan si Lolo dahil sa mga luha ko, pakiramdam ko ay nilalamon ako ng bigat ng aking dibdib, pagsisi at sakit.

My grandfather's eyes were filled with deep concern as he listened to me, his own emotions visible as he understands my pain. The silence between us was heavy.

"We will fix everything," my grandfather said with a calm determination. "I'll make sure your mother and father are held accountable for what they've done to her mother, although her mother was also wrong for loving your father in the wrong time because he's already married with my daughter Sarina, maybe it's my fault too I force them." He said with regret in his tone.
