Samara Lewis Pendleton Fernandez POV

I miss Lane so much. I can't bear waiting any longer. I need to see her now. I grabbed my phone and stood up from my seat when Kuya Zaint looked at me. "Where are you going?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.

"The hell you care?!"

"Tinatanong kita ng maayos, Samara!"

"I'm going to call my girlfriend, duh!" I said, rolling my eyes at him.

"Can't you focus on what we're doing first? And stop thinking about that brat!" he shouted, his voice filled with frustration.

I glared at him, feeling a surge of anger. "How dare you say that about her? She's not a brat, you are!" nahinto ako sandali bago muling nagsalita. "I've already come up with a solid solution for the company's problem, which, by the way, you caused. And excuse me, Lane is way more important than anything, so mind your own business!" I yelled back, my voice shaking with emotion as I stormed out of the office.

As I walked to the balcony, I felt my hands trembling. I dialed her number, hoping to hear her voice, but each time, I was met with the operator's voice. Desperation crept in with each failed attempt.

I leaned against the balcony railing, taking a deep breath to steady myself. The city below seemed to blur as my thoughts raced. Why isn't she answering? Is something wrong? I tried calling again, my heart pounding, but still no answer.

Frustrated, I returned to the conference room where Kuya Zaint was still waiting. He looked up as I entered, his expression a mix of anger and concern.

"You need to get your priorities straight," he said, his tone softer but still firm. "We have a crisis to manage here. Calling that brat won't solve anything,"

I clenched my fists, trying to control my temper. "You don't understand. Lane means everything to me. I can't just ignore that. And don't lecture me about priorities when you’re the one who messed up in the first place."

Kuya Zaint sighed, rubbing his temples. "Look, I get it. You care about her. But we need to handle this together. Can we at least try to work through this without tearing each other apart?"

"You're the one who started it, tinatapos ko lang!" mataray kong sagot sa kaniya.

"Let's be at least nice to each other and finish everything here." He said.

I rolled my eyes and took a deep breath, feeling the weight of his words. "Fine. But don’t ever call her a brat again. She’s the one thing that keeps me grounded I love her so much, whether you accept it or not!"

"Stupid love," he said and shook his head. "Let's fix this mess, then you can call her as much as you want." he added.

Reluctantly, I sat back down, feeling a mixture of frustration and determination. We had a lot to sort out, but I knew I had to keep it together, for both the company and for Lane.

Sandaling nag-usap muli kami ni Kuya Zaint tungkol sa company, and when we were in the middle of a discussion when our secretary suddenly came in and urgently called for me and Kuya Zaint. We both looked at her with curiosity. "Ma'am, I just received a mail message from our financial manager. He said you have a meeting."

"Right now? What's it about? At bakit biglaan?" I asked, putting down my pen.

"Yes, ma'am, she said it's urgent. Something about the quarterly budget review and may importaneng tao rin po roon," the secretary replied, her voice tinged with concern.

Kuya Zaint furrowed his brow. "Quarterly budget review? But we just had one last month. Did he mention any specific issues?"

The secretary shook her head. "No, he didn't give any details. Just that it's critical and you need to meet them immediately."
