Sivaangi's eyes glazed over, lost in the memories of that fateful day. She was just 14, and her life was forever changed. She could still hear Akash's cries, feel the helplessness and fear that gripped her.
Ashwin noticed the change in her expression, her eyes clouding over. He gently squeezed her hand, offering comfort. "Sivaangi, what's wrong? You can tell me. I am just here"
Sivaangi took a deep breath, the pain still raw. "My parents... they passed away when I was 14. It was sudden, and Akash was just a baby.
Sivaangi's eyes clouded over, memories flooding her mind. "My dad was a great businessman, Ashwin. He built his company from scratch and was so proud of what he achieved. He was also a great father and husband until then, he suffered a huge loss."
"Our downfall started there, he became obsessed with recovering his wealth, spending all his time trying to revive his business. He forgot about us, his family. He stopped coming home, stopped spending time with us. Even when my mom got pregnant with Akash, he didn't care. He didn't attend her check-ups, didn't buy clothes for the baby... nothing. My mom was devastated, but she tried to hold on, for our sake."
Ashwin's eyes narrowed, anger simmering beneath the surface. He stopped his car in a secluded place and offered a comfort by wrapping his arms around her tightly. "I'm so sorry, Sivaangi. You and Akash deserved so much better."
Sivaangi continued her voice trembled as she recalled the day her mother gave birth to Akash. "One day me and my mom was in our room, I was playing with her but suddenly she started shouting in pain holding her belly. I was so scared, Ashwin. I didn't know what to do. I called my dad, but he didn't answer. I was alone, and my mom was in so much pain. I didn't know how to help her."
She took a deep breath, her eyes welling up with tears. "The workers in the house helped my mom to the hospital and she gave birth to Akash. I was just a kid, I didn't know what was happening. But I remember the sound of my mom's screams, the sound of Akash's first cry... it's etched in my memory forever."
Ashwin's eyes were filled with empathy and anger. He didn't spoke in middle, he just let her to threw everything out.
Sivaangi's voice was laced with bitterness. "And my father. He came to see Akash, but my mom and I... we didn't speak to him. We didn't want to. He had abandoned us when we needed him most. He didn't deserve to be a part of our lives."
Ashwin's arms tightened around her. "You and your mom were strong, Sivaangi. You survived despite his absence. And Akash... he's a blessing, a reminder of your mom's strength and love."
Sivaangi's voice cracked as she relived the memory , she clutched onto ashwin tightly. "I saw everything, Ashwin. I saw my mom try to talk to him, try to reach out to him. But he was too far gone, too consumed by his own anger and pride. They started fighting, and it got ugly. I saw him raise his hand to her, saw him try to hit her. I was so scared, Ashwin. I didn't know what to do."
She paused, taking a deep breath. "I hid in the corner, too afraid to move. I saw my mom defend herself, saw her try to protect herself from his blows. But he was too strong, too angry. He hurt her, Ashwin. He hurt her so badly."
Ashwin's eyes were filled with tears, his face contorted in anguish. He rubbed his thumb over her hand gently and held her tightly while she let everything out.
Sivaangi's voice was barely audible. "I was. I was so scared. And the worst part is, I couldn't do anything to stop it. I couldn't protect my mom. I felt so helpless, so weak."
Sivaangi's eyes clouded over, her voice laced with sadness. "I saw them go from being this loving couple, always holding hands and laughing together, to... to this broken, hurtful relationship. It was like they were two different people, Ashwin. The love and affection they once had for each other was replaced with anger, resentment, and hurt."
