_____Into the story :
Ashwin took a deep breath and turned to Sivaangi, his eyes locked on hers. They have been talking for sometime, now he wants to come to the point. "Hey, I wanted to talk to you about something," he said, his voice casual but with a hint of nervousness.
Sivaangi looked up at him, curious. "What's up?"
Ashwin hesitated, unsure of how to broach the subject. "I was thinking... maybe you could participate in a dessert contest that's happening at my... uh, friend's workplace."
He said friend's workplace not in his company to avoid minimal doubts.
Sivaangi's eyes narrowed slightly, her expression skeptical. "A dessert contest? What's the big deal about that?"
Ashwin shrugged, trying to appear nonchalant. "No big deal, just thought you might be interested. You're really talented with baking, and it could be a fun experience for you."
Sivaangi looked unconvinced, "So, what's the contest about? What kind of desserts do we need to make?"
Ashwin's face lit up with enthusiasm. "That's the best part! It's a competition to create the most innovative and delicious desserts. You can make anything you want, as long as it's original and tastes amazing."
Sivaangi sighed, shaking her head. "I don't know, Ashwin. I'm not really into competing with other people. And what if I lose?"
Ashwin's expression turned persuasive. "That's the thing - it's not just about winning or losing. It's about showcasing your talent and having fun. And who knows, you might just surprise yourself with what you're capable of."
Sivaangi raised an eyebrow, still looking skeptical. "I'm just not sure I'm ready for something like that."
Ashwin leaned in, his voice taking on a gentle tone. "That's exactly why you should do it, Sivaangi. You're always talking about how you want to take your baking to the next level. This is the perfect opportunity to do just that. There will be lot of professionals. You can develop your talent too."
Sivaangi looked away, her eyes scanning the car. Ashwin could see the wheels turning in her head, weighing the pros and cons.
Sivaangi shook her head, laughing. "No, Ashwin. I'm not entering some big dessert contest. You said , There will be professional chefs. I'll never win."
Ashwin's expression turned serious. "That's exactly why you should enter, Sivaangi. You have a talent, and you need to prove it to yourself."
Sivaangi raised an eyebrow. "Prove it to myself? I know I'm good at baking, but I'm not delusional. I'm not going to win against professional chefs."
Ashwin's eyes locked onto hers. "It's not just about winning, Sivaangi. It's about pushing yourself to see how far you can go. And if you win... there's not just a cash prize. You'll have the opportunity to work with the company for a lifetime."
Sivaangi's eyes widened, her expression skeptical. "What do you mean?
Ashwin smiled, his eyes glinting with persuasion. "Because sweetheart their company is owns the top chain restaurants in the industry. If you win, you'll have the chance to work with the best, to learn from them, and to create desserts that will be loved by people all over the world."
Sivaangi looked unconvinced, but Ashwin could see the spark of interest in her eyes. He knew he had to keep pushing her, to make her see the potential that he saw in her.
Ashwin eyes still shone with persuasion. "We have plenty of time before the contest. You can create new desserts, experiment with different flavors and techniques... I can even help you with it."
Sivaangi raised an eyebrow. "You? What do you know about baking?"
Ashwin grinned. " I know little about baking, and I'm happy to be your taste-tester. Plus, I have some connections in the industry that could be helpful to you."
Sivaangi sighed, feeling a bit worn down by Ashwin's persistence. "I'll think about it, okay? But no promises."
Ashwin's face lit up with a smile. "That's all I can ask for. And who knows, you might just surprise yourself with what you're capable of."
Ashwin pulled her into a hug , ruffling her hair. They shared a tight hug , ashwin kissed her palm and they spent few more minutes there and drove towards their cafe.
_______Ashwin and Sivaangi arrived at the cafe.
As they entered, the bell above the door jingled, and the aroma of freshly baked goods enveloped them.
Monisha was already there, maintaining the evening rush. She smiled warmly at Ashwin and Sivaangi, exchanging quick hellos.
Monisha, busy taking orders and serving customers and sivaangi joined her.
Ashwin, meanwhile, made his way to a corner table, his eyes fixed on Sivaangi. He sat down, a contented smile on his face, and watched her with admiration.
Sivaangi, oblivious to Ashwin's gaze, worked alongside Monisha, her movements efficient and practiced. She laughed with customers, offered recommendations, and plated desserts with flair.
As the evening rush subsided, Ashwin pulled out his phone and began registering Sivaangi's name for the dessert contest.
He called her over, and she sat beside him, watching with interest as he filled in the online form. Her eyes scanned the screen, taking in the contest details and rules.
Just as Ashwin was about to submit the form, his phone buzzed with an incoming call. The screen flashed with a picture of him and his father, taken on a happier day. Ashwin's expression faltered, and he hesitated, remembering their earlier argument.
Sivaangi's eyes widened slightly, her gaze fixed on the screen. Something about the man in the photo struck a chord within her, a faint sense of familiarity that she couldn't quite place.
She furrowed her brow, trying to remember where she had seen him before. But the memory remained elusive, teasing her with its presence yet refusing to surface.
Sivaangi noticed the change in his demeanor and nudged him gently. "Hey, aren't you going to answer it?"
Ashwin shrugged, his eyes fixed on the screen. "I'll call him back later."
But the call went off, leaving an awkward silence.
Ashwin, oblivious to Sivaangi's sudden distraction, shrugged off the missed call and refocused on the contest registration. But Sivaangi's mind lingered on the image, her thoughts racing with possibilities.
Who was this man, and why did he seem so familiar? She couldn't shake off the feeling that their paths had crossed before, but the details remained shrouded in mystery.
As Ashwin asked for her ideas on the dessert entry, Sivaangi hesitated, her mind still grappling with the enigmatic connection. She pushed the thoughts aside, trying to concentrate on the task at hand, but the seed of curiosity had been planted, waiting to germinate and reveal its secrets.
