Sivaangi's gaze lingered on Shreya's frail form, her heart heavy with compassion. "What happened to her?" she asked Vikram, her voice barely above a whisper.Vikram's eyes clouded, his expression somber. "It's a long story, Sivaangi. But I'll tell you if you're willing to listen."
Sivaangi nodded, her curiosity piqued.
Vikram's eyes drifted into the past, a mix of sadness and nostalgia on his face. "We were inseparable, the three of us. Ashwin, Shreya, and I. Our fathers were best friends and business partners, and we grew up together, sharing every secret, every dream..."
Sivaangi listened intently, her heart heavy with emotion.
"But what I didn't know was the love Shreya had for Ashwin. I never saw that. We were just friends, and I thought that's all it was."
Vikram's just stared at the blank space.
"When we were 18, our father passed away due to health issues. Shreya was devastated, she and her dad were incredibly close... I tried everything to cheer her up, to bring her back from the darkness."
Sivaangi's eyes filled with tears, her heart aching for Shreya's pain.
"But then, Ashwin's presence changed her. She started to smile again, to laugh... I was happy, thinking she was finally healing. I didn't know, I didn't see... the way she looked at him, the way she loved him."
Vikram's gaze fell, his shoulders sagging under the weight of his regret.
"If only I had seen, if only I had known... maybe things would have been different. Maybe Shreya wouldn't have..."
Vikram's voice cracked, his eyes welling up with tears.
"Days passed, I think Shreya finally gathered the courage and told Ashwin about her feelings. But he rejected her, said he only saw her as a best friend... She was heartbroken, again."
Sivaangi's heart ached, sensing the depth of Shreya's pain.
"I didn't know any of this, but I noticed the distance between them. They were no longer inseparable, no longer laughing together... I sensed something was wrong, but I didn't know what."
Vikram's gaze fell, his shoulders dropped.
"After some days, I came to know about what had happened. But I was helpless, Sivaangi. I couldn't do anything. I couldn't see my sister like that, broken and hurt... And I couldn't force Ashwin to love her back."
Sivaangi's eyes filled with tears, her heart heavy with sorrow. She looked at shreya with red eyes.
"I remained silent, hoping time would heal her wounds. But it didn't. The distance between them grew, and I was caught in the middle, unable to do anything."
Vikram clenched his fist and lowered his head as he spoke.
"But then, one day, she was happy again. I don't know why, but she seemed so excited, so full of life... She told me she was going to visit Ashwin, and I didn't think much of it. I was just relieved to see her happy."
Sivaangi's heart ached, sensing the tragedy that was about to unfold.
"She left our house happily, Sivaangi... But the next moment, my world shattered. I received the news that Shreya had met with an accident."
Vikram's voice broke, his eyes flooding with tears.
"I lost all the happiness in my life, Sivaangi. I thought, Everything was taken away from me in an instant. My sister, my best friend."
Vikram's eyes clouded, his voice cracking as he told Sivaangi about the moment he saw Shreya at the accident site.
"I saw her car, Sivaangi... crumpled and twisted. And then I saw her... lying on the ground, her body broken and battered. I felt like my world had shattered into a million pieces."
