The three of them - Dharshan, Sivaangi, and Akash - got into the car. Sivaangi sat in the backseat, gazing out the window as the cityscape whizzed by. Her eyes seemed lost in thought, her mind a million miles away.
Dharshan, driving, noticed her distant expression and tried to reassure her. "Nothing's spoiled, Sivu. Even now, you can change your decision," he said, his voice soft and gentle.
Sivaangi turned to him, a faint smile on her lips. She nodded her head, but her eyes betrayed her.
Dharshan sighed, his concern for his sister evident. He continued driving, the silence between them thick with unspoken emotions.
As they approached the airport, Sivaangi's gaze remained fixed on the window, her thoughts still elsewhere.
Finally, they arrived at the airport at 5pm, the sounds of planes taking off and landing filling the air. Dharshan pulled up to the curb, and they sat there for a moment, the weight of their goodbyes hanging over them.
"Let's get going," Dharshan said finally, his voice breaking the silence. "We don't want to miss your flight."
Sivaangi nodded, and they stepped out of the car, the cool airport air enveloping them. Dharshan helped Akash with his backpack, while Sivaangi took a deep breath, and continued taking her bags.
They walked towards the terminal, and Dharshan couldn't help but notice Sivaangi's somber mood.
"Sivu, I am asking you again, are you sure about this?" Dharshan asked.
Sivaangi looked up at him and gave a faint smile. "Yeah, I'm sure."
Dharshan nodded, but his eyes betrayed his concern. He knew Sivaangi was making a huge sacrifice, and he couldn't help but feel responsible.
As they approached the check-in counter, Dharshan helped them with the formalities. After checking in, they walked towards the security checkpoint.
Just as they were about to proceed, Dharshan's phone rang. He answered, and his expression changed from calm to concerned.
"Pugazh, what's wrong?" he asked, his voice laced with worry.
Sivaangi noticed the change in Dharshan's expression and asked, "Dharsha, what's wrong?"
Dharshan covered the phone with his hand and said, "Ashwin fainted out of sudden. He was hospitalized. I have to go."
Sivaangi's eyes widened in shock, and her heart skipped a beat. "What? How did it happen?" she asked, her voice trembling.
Dharshan shook his head. "Pugazh didn't say. But I need to go, Sivaangi. You two travel safe, okay. I'll call after i reached there?"
Sivaangi nodded, still looking concerned. "Be careful, Anna. Let me know if there's any update."
Dharshan hugged Sivaangi and Akash quickly and rushed off, leaving them to proceed to their flight.
Dharshan rushed to the hospital, his mind racing with thoughts of Ashwin's condition. When he arrived, he was greeted by Pugazh, who looked worried.
"What happened?" Dharshan asked, his voice firm.
"Ashwin was at home when he suddenly fainted," Pugazh explained. "We rushed him to the hospital, and the doctors checked him and said he was very weak and drained out of sleep. Now they injected him in drips."
Dharshan nodded, his eyes scanning the hospital room until they landed on Ashwin's pale face. He looked fragile, his usual energetic self replaced by a weak and vulnerable person.
Dharshan's heart ached. He didn't know what to do. He was feeling very guilty.
After sometime, Ashwin's eyes flickered open, he adjusted his eyes to the light and looked around. After realising he was in hospital, he sat up and tried to got down from the bed.
