We have to talk.

"Aiden you have to tell me what's wrong, now." said Brynne, glaring at him.

"What do you mean?" questioned Aiden, shoving his hands in his pockets.

Brynne's eyes narrowed. She knew that move too well. Aiden always did that when he was nervous.

"You know I can see through you, right?" asked Brynne.

Aiden glared at his best friend, "And what exactly do you see?"

"That you've been acting so different ever since that stupid prophecy!" yelled Brynne. "And you've been putting it off on Aru. Why?"

Rage flared in Aiden's eyes, "Why do you think that is?"

"I don't know!" exclaimed Brynne. "That's why I'm asking you, because I really don't like it when people hide from me."

Aiden sighed, giving up.

"What can I keep from you, Bee?" Aiden asked, taking a seat on his bed, burying his face in his hands.

Brynne softened at the sight of her best friend despairing.

She sat next to him and put a hand on his shoulder, "What's wrong? Is it about that prophecy?"

Aiden softly shook his head in agreement.

"And is the girl Aru?"

Aiden tensed at her name and Brynne took that as a yes.

"I've-" Aiden's voice cracked. "I've seen love fail."

Brynne raised an eyebrow, "It's not always-"

"But I couldn't stop myself from falling into her, Brynne," he whispered softly. "I tried to get rid of my feelings. I tried to stop loving her. But every time I did, they just came back stronger. To be honest, they never even left. Avoiding her and not talking to her is doing nothing. My feelings just keep growing and I can't do anything about it." Aiden looked away. "I feel like I don't have much time left, but I still want more time with her. To be with her and to live with her."

"Oh, Aiden," said Brynne. "You fell hard, didn't you?"

Aiden didn't respond, "I just can't accept the fact that..." he trailed off.

"That you might die because of her?" asked Brynne.

"I guess," said Aiden.

"You know," said Brynne. "You could be saving her from something. It's not like she's gonna kill you," she rolled her eyes. "Shah would never do that to us. Especially not you."

Aiden looked at her warily as if saying "What's that supposed to mean?"

"Nothing," said Brynne quickly. "It means nothing."

Aiden sighed. "I would do anything for her, Bee," his eyes softened with longing. "I'm just scared. I'm scared of that stupid prophecy and the love I grew up with."

Brynne's heart ached for Aiden, as she gently pulled him into a hug. "Trust me, I won't let you die, Ammamma."

Aiden accepter her hug and laughed dryly, "I know, Bee."
