"Miss Shah," said Mrs. Miller, snapping a ruler on Aru's desk, abruptly waking her up.

"Hey!" exclaimed Aru. "What gives?"

"My class is not your bedroom," huffed Mrs. Miller. "Now can you tell us what the underlying message is in this passage-"

BRINNNNNNGGGGG!

Chatter erupted around Aru as students got up out of their seats, grabbing their binders and heading out the door.

Mrs. Miller sneered at the sight, then turned back to Aru. "You got lucky this time, but if I see you snoozing in my class again, you will see yourself in the principal's office." She paused and stared at Aru, "Do you understand?"

"Yes," said Aru exasperatedly. "Can I please go now?"

Her teacher scowled before turning away and walked back to her desk.

Aru sighed and picked up her things. Leaving that classroom had to be the best feeling she'd felt all day.

As she walked through the dim corridors of her school, she stopped at her locker and sighed.

"This better work today," she thought, exasperated.

Aru looked at the orange, circular combination lock on her locker and entered the code.

As usual, it did not open.

"How come this never works for me?" she muttered, tugging on the lock a few more times before giving up.

"Do you need help?" asked a familiar voice from behind her.

Aru smiled internally. She could recognise that voice anywhere.

"Hi, Wifey," she said turning around.

"Hey, Shah," he grinned, the dimples at the side of his mouth flashing.

The sight made her heart stutter.

"Let me help you with that," he said, walking closer to her.

"Go ahead," she said, moving out of the way.

Aiden gently leaned down, placing his hands on the lock. He spun it thrice to the right, stopping at 13, once to the left before stopping at 9 and then directly turned it to the three. Aiden tugged on the lock once and it popped open.

"How come it never works for me?" questioned Aru. "I did the exact same thing!"

"It just likes me better," said Aiden, smirking.

"It just likes me better," mocked Aru, before grabbing the lock out of his hand. She opened her locker, stuffing her binder inside before taking her bag and throwing it over her shoulder.

"Can we go now?" asked Aiden.

"Be patient Wifey," said Aru as the dug around her locker, trying to look for something.

"Shah, you are in no place to say that to me," said Aiden.

Aru looked up at him, feigning innocence. "What do you mean? I'm the epitome of patience and dignity."

Aiden chuckled, "Whatever floats your boat."

Aru huffed and slammed her locker shut.

"What's gotten you in a bad mood?" asked Aiden, trailing behind her.

"My existence is a scandal," replied Aru.

Aiden frowned. "What's that gotta do with anything?"

"So you're not disagreeing?" asked Aru, turning around swiftly.

"I mean, it's not wrong," said Aiden, failing to hide a smile.

The sight made Aru's heart swell, but she turned away and started picking up her speed. She heard Aiden laugh, then immediately catch up with her.

"You can't outwalk me, Shah," he said, grinning.

"Oh yeah?" challenged Aru. "Watch me."

Aru hastily sped up, waving in and out through the crowd of students.

"Still right next to you," said Aiden, smirking.

"Some of us just aren't blessed with long legs," grumbled Aru.

Aiden pursed his lips, "And you're one of them."

Aru shoved him.

Aiden laughed.

"Ahem, did you guys really just forget me?"

The two of the turned around to see Rudy.

He was out of breath and his blinding white outfit had a huge brown stain that stuck to his body.

"Oh, it's just you," said Aiden, disappointed.

Rudy snarled, "Is that all you have to say? While you two were flirting with each other, I had to wait alone at that stinky cafeteria and this mortal spilled a brown coloured substance on me!"

"Well, that explains that," said Aru, eyeing the stain.

Aiden sighed, "Come on, I'll get you a spare sweater."

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"WHAT IN THE HEAVENS IS THIS?" hollered Rudy, looking at himself in a mirror.

"What's wrong?" asked Aiden.

"Your sweater is...cheap!" exclaimed Rudy. "I assume it's not custom couture or Gucci?"

"It's from American Eagle," said Aiden, frowning.

"That explains! This piece of garbage was made by a filthy bird! An eagle at that!" said Rudy, shucking off the jacket. "Aiden, why would you give me this? You know the history between eagles and nagas! Do you want to get me killed?"

Aru doubled over laughing as Aiden explained what American Eagle was.

"Now, you either keep that hoodie on or walk around with a huge stain on your shirt," concluded Aiden.

"I hate this," muttered Rudy, zipping up the hoodie.

"That's just how life is, snake boy. Now, off we go, we've wasted too much time-"

BRINGGGGGG!

"Are you joking?" asked Aru, looking up at the ceiling. "Break can't be over! I didn't even eat,"

"I have that chemistry thing next," said Rudy. "We get to make things explode!"

"Yeah, good luck with that." said Aiden. He gave Aru a knowing glance, "I'll see you guys after school. And Rudy, don't loose that hoodie."

"Yeah, yeah. I got it cuz." said Rudy, shrugging. "I'll see you guys later."

That left Aru and Aiden.

He smiled and kissed her forehead, "Don't be late Shah."

She smirked, "But that's what I do best."

Aiden rolled his eyes, but smiled. "Sure, but if you're late again Mr. O'Hara's gonna call your mom."

"Yeah, I'm leaving." said Aru, turning around. "See you later, Wifey!"
