The Quell Careers are such underrated characters and so I will be showing them some love because they deserve better. As always, I don't own the characters. This is for @Keelie2507 who wanted to see more of Enobaria and Brutus (my darlings from District 2) and @b_j_hx who wanted to see more of Cashmere and Gloss (my poor sibling duo from 1) on AO3. Hope you guys like this. Happy reading loves!

The 74th Hunger Games were probably some of the worst for the Career Mentors. While it was taxing on them every year, the 74th was particularly bad due to the way the tributes acted in the arena.

The kids were too.....kind with one another. Cato and Clove from District 2, while vicious, were soft with one another and their fellow Careers, which was bad for sponsors. Glimmer and Marvel from 1 were much the same, but were significantly less cruel than their counterparts, and as such, were less appealing for the "right" reasons. Not to mention how they were very much in love and very obvious about it, but were overshadowed by the star-crossed lovers of District 12.

Both pairs honestly.

This left their mentors, Enobaria and Brutus from 2, and Cashmere and Gloss from 1, to go out for sponsors themselves.

In the case of the siblings from 1, this wasn't something they liked but they were very used to it, thanks to the prostitution that Snow put them through. But for Enobaria and Brutus, it was essentially torture. Neither of them could say they were used to it.

They spent days, days, all four of them, working their way with sponsors. Cashmere and Gloss rotated their time with the sponsors. Enobaria and Brutus didn't have that luxury.

Enobaria, despite her fang like teeth, was the only "desirable" Victors of the two mentors from 2, and as such was stuck with the sponsors.

Brutus wanted nothing more than to relieve his girl, save her from the sponsors destroying her slowly. Brutus hated that the sponsors didn't want him, because that meant year in and year out, Enobaria suffered on her own.

When the games ended, when the star-crossed lovers of District 12 won, it was the first time in weeks that the mentors from 2 got to relax.

Gloss and Cashmere collapsed in their room together once both of their tributes were dead. In a way, they were lucky. Their tributes died within the few two weeks, they were able to relax together after.

Gloss held his sister as she cried softly.

"I feel disgusting!" Cashmere wailed. "I let them! I let them!"

"Shhhhh, I know." Gloss soothed. "I know."

"I wanted to get them sponsor gifts. But why does it always have to be like this?" Cashmere sobbed.

Gloss didn't know how to answer her. "I don't know, Cash. I don't know."

"Gloss?" The whimper did him over.

Gloss broke into his own silent tears. He held her to his chest, closing his eyes tight as she sobbed hysterically into his chest.

He was powerless. He couldn't protect his baby sister. She was only two years younger than he was. He'd won at seventeen. The following year, she won at sixteen.

He's been powerless for ten years. He'd never once been able to protect her. He'd watched, resigned as she was sold around. He'd silently joined in when they were sold together, only able to soothe her afterwards.

He was so very powerless to protect his sister. So unbelievably powerless. Gloss would never be able to protect his little Cashmere.

"I'm so sorry, Cash. I'm so sorry." Gloss murmured into his sister's blonde curls after she'd fallen asleep. "I love you, sis."
