This was requested by @SamSunil on AO3. It's been a hot minute since I wrote in this fandom, so I hope I do the characters justice still. This is set during the movie, The Thundermans Return. It's been a while since I watched it, so please kindly ignore any continuity errors or if I'm wrong about something. Happy reading!

Chloe's breathing comes in quick as she reluctantly takes the seeds away from her older siblings. It wasn't the first time she was in a dangerous situation, sure. There was the prom, where she fought against a ton of villains without her proper powers. There was the time where Phoebe was taken over by Dark Mayhem's powers and tried to destroy the world. She's probably missing a ton of other times too, honestly. She's used to danger.

This isn't danger, this is giving up. She's leaving the twins on that stupid drone. A drone about to blow up. They'd ordered her, yes. It was an order. She was under their leadership, she was meant to follow orders. But this meant leaving them to die. She didn't want to do that.

Max and Phoebe were amazing heroes. They were remarkable when they worked together. But there was no escaping the part where, once Chloe teleported, they would be alone on a drone that was going to blow up in a few seconds.

"Chloe, go." Phoebe repeats herself for what is likely the third or fourth time. "Take the seeds and go!"

"But-"

"Go!" Max orders, one hand cupping her cheek. "Trust us, yeah, Chlo?"

They both smile encouragingly. She sees the doubt in their eyes. The shakiness in their hands as they cling to the drone. They don't know what to do to escape. They just want to protect her.

"I love you. Both of you." Chloe feels the need to say that. She doesn't know if she'll get another chance.

"We love you too, Chloe." Phoebe whispers.

"Which is why we need you to go." Max adds.

Chloe steels her nerves. She stares at them for a second or two longer, but finally, seeing no other way out, she activates her powers, and teleports away.

She reappears on the ground, handing off the seeds to her father as soon as she can. Her eyes are trained up on the sky, seeking out her siblings. Any second now, the drone will detonate, and if they don't act fast, they will die in that explosion. And Chloe was entirely useless to stop it.

...............................................................................................................

"What now?" Phoebe asks desperately.

"Any chance our twin power could do something?" Max answers. "Without blowing us up toom preferably."

Phoebe slowly shakes her head. "I don't...think so."

"This is bad." Max whispers. "This is really bad."

"It's okay." Phoebe reaches for his hand, then thinks better of it, reaching for his shoulder instead. "We're okay. They'll be fine without us."

"What if I don't want to die, Pheebs?"

"I don't either, Max. But...sometimes it just happens to heroes."

They sit, staring at one another. This is it. They're going to die. They're going to die but they did good with their lives. Saved Chloe. Saved the world, even. This is okay. They did okay. They did good. Phoebe is okay with this.

Max sudden perks up. "Wait! Remember when we trained to be a team?"

"What?"

"When we trained together. Mom and Dad made us practice catching each other." Max says. "Jump off. I'll do the same. We'll use our telekeniesis to catch ourselves. Catch each other."

"And if the explosion hits us anyway?" Phoebe cries, glancing at the timer as it slowly ticks towards zero.

"At least there will be bodies to bury." Max replies, already looking down. "Do you trust me, Pheebs?"

"Always, Max." Phoebe agrees softly. "Let's go, then."

"1." Max murmurs.

"2." Phoebe says.

They both tense, preparing to jump.

"3!"

Phoebe leeps, Max launches forward, and then they are both air born. Phoebe extends a hand towards her twin, and Max extends his towards her. Phoebe feels her powers kick on, instinct and years of experience allowing her to use her telekenisis to surround her brother, catching him in the air and slowing his fall. She feels his own powers wrap around her, not dissimilar to a hug she might recieve, and feels her momentum slow. They're still rushing to the ground, but they're slowing, gradually, as they both prepare to stop in midair above the ground.

Overhead, Phoebe hears more than sees the explosion of the drone. Debris rains around them, and she can feel the heat of the detonation. Max's powers expand upwards, catching and shoving debris away from her to keep the firey metal from hitting her back or head. Phoebe shakes herself a little and does the same, panicking a little when she's almost too late to shield his back from getting hit and only just managing to push the metal away.

They stop, perfectly, just above the ground, a foot or so of distance between them and the forest floor.

Max's head shoots up to look at her. "You okay?"

Shakily, she nods. "Yeah...yeah, I'm fine. You?"

Max exhales, shaking himself as he nods. "Yeah."

Slowly, Max lowers her to her feet. Once she gets her bearings, she does the same. They've landed a little ways off from their family, so they'll have to walk over to them. But they're alive, which in and of itself is a blessing.

Phoebe flings herself at Max. "Thank God. We did it."

Max exhales again, clearly a little shaken. "We did."

His arms close around her. He's shaking a little, now that he's letting himself react without fear of scaring Chloe. Phoebe feels her twin press his face against her neck.

"We almost died...again."

"It's been a rough few days, huh, Max?" Phoebe quips, trying to lighten the mood.

He mutely nods.

"I'm just glad Chloe listened." Phoebe murmurs, taking the hint that Max wasn't feeling the jokes. "C'mon. Let's find the others."

They rush off, running to calm their adrenaline-induced racing hearts, though they both now that the adrenaline won't really go away so much as transfer to one of action rather than fear. Soon enough, they stumble onto where their siblings and parents are.

"Max! Phoebe!" Chloe yells, spotting them immediately.

She must have been looking. Waiting for them.

Phoebe opens her arms, letting Chloe throw herself into a hug. Max closes in on the other side. Billy and Nora push into the hug too, and both of their parents embrace them from the back.

"The seeds?"

"Taken care of." Barb promises.

"The villains?"

"Tied up." Chloe says.

Max and Phoebe glance at each other and collectively deflate.

"You did so, so good, Chloe." Phoebe tells her. "So good."

Chloe looks up, eyes shining. "Really?"

"Really." Phoebe confirms. "We're so proud of you."

"But I left you up there."

"You did what we told you to do." Max shakes his head gently. "You handled the task we gave you. You did great, kid."

Chloe beams, hugging closer.

Max and Phoebe exchange another look, both relaxed now. Despite the...turmoil of the mission, they'd succeeded. Chloe was safe, the villains subdued, the plot foiled, and they were both alive.

"Good job, T-Force." Phoebe murmurs.

"Great job, guys." Max adds.

The family comes together again, in another tight hug. All is well now.
