Obviously I don't own all the characters. Rick Riordan and the ancient Greeks do. Now, unlike my other AU, Kronos and the titans are good. Because wholesome immortal family? Yes please and thank you. Anyway, this is basically shameless angst with a little comfort mixed in.
The Council meeting dragged on the same way it always did. Boring endless conversation. From Athena's seat on her throne, she could see all the Olympians. They looked as bored as she felt.
Zeus and Hera were screaming at one another over the king's latest affair. Demeter and Poseidon were exchanging annoyed looks around the arguing couple, seemingly unsure of when they should step in and not truly caring. Hades and Persephone, visiting from the Underworld for the meeting paid them no mind, instead speaking with Hestia.
Artemis absently plucked at the string of her bow, eyes blankly staring at the ground by the hearth. Beside her, Apollo mended some of his arrows and instruments, not paying any attention to the argument that had started between Zeus and Hera. Hermes had started typing on his phone, muttering to himself quietly and frowning.
Hephaestus was sketching some blueprints for some thing or another. Aphrodite was touching up her makeup, paying the rest of the room's occupants no mind. Ares was watching the bickering of his parents with a neutral, dulled expression, as though he'd long since grown tired of the arguments he'd heard for so many centuries.
Dionysus had fallen asleep on his throne, twitching ever so slightly in his sleep, and Athena felt a fond smile stretch upon her lips at the sight of her youngest Olympian half-sibling. Zeus's punishment towards him had truly been unfair, the youngest god had only flirted with the nymph, not assaulted her and the only reason Zeus had been pressed was because he'd been jealous. There had truly been no reason to take away Dio's wine from him, it was simply cruel to the wine god.
Athena smiled again softly at the next twitch her half-brother gave. At least he was sleeping peacefully.
She caught the eye of her elder half-brother looking at her as she turned away, and raised an eyebrow. Ares simply smirked, and glanced at Dionysus, his expression softening as well. The other siblings had long since noticed the youngest Olympian's fatigue and overall negative experience with Zeus's punishment and had long since taken to doing their best to care for their littlest brother.
They couldn't get around the wine blockage, but they did their best to soothe the effects of the forced withdrawal that dragged on Dionysus's body.
He seems peaceful, at least. Ares's voice echoed in her mind.
At least. Athena agreed, glancing back at the sleeping deity. I really do wish I could have convinced Father to give him a smaller punishment. One hundred years is so very harsh for such a little thing.
You know he was just trying to convince Ma that he wasn't gonna cheat again. Ares's mental voice grew bitter.
It didn't work if their constant arguing since had proven anything. Athena sighed, glancing briefly at her father and step-mother before turning back to Ares. I'm sorry that you're stuck listening to them all the time.
Ares's expression twitched slightly, as if he fought to keep the neutral look upon his face. I'd rather it be me than any of the others. Fates know, Hebe, Eilythea, Enyo and Bellona couldn't handle them. And Fates know Hephaestus had dealt with their issues enough without the arguments as well.
I could help, Ares. Athena's mental voice dropped to almost a whisper.
You don't have to. Fates know I don't pay attention to them anymore anyway. If I sit there long enough they'll shut up and storm away from each other and I'll never have to do anything. Ares shrugged.
