Chapter 18

Days, maybe even weeks after I had walked out on my movie date with Kenny. That night maybe a few hours after the movie was over, he called me. I didn't answer it. Then later that night he came to the house and knocked on the door. My mother went to answer it and before she did, I ran to the stairs and told her along the way, to tell him I was asleep.
She gave me a confused look for a moment but nodded. I went up to my room and left it open a crack.

"Hey Kenny." My mother greeted.
"Hey Carrie. Is Cris home?"
"Yeah, but she's asleep."
"Oh," Kenny said. It was about 10 Mississippi's until Kenny spoke again. "Can you let her know I stopped by and that I wanted to talk to her about why she walked out on our movie date."
"Of course I will sweetie." My mom told him.
"Thank you, well I guess have a nice night Ms Carrie."
"You too." My mother told him.

I heard her shut the door then heard her come up the stairs. I sat on my bed and tried my hardest not to cry. I hurt Kenny very badly but I had no words for what happened though.
My mom came into my room and saw how I was. She came towards me, sat on the bed and pulled me into her arms. There that's when the water works started.
After about 5 minutes or so, we talked about what I did and why. I told her the movie he had picked where I kinda freaked me out. Told her that when I went to leave, that I ran into a friend from school. Told her what me and Ryan talked about out and she even agreed with Ryan on how it all went down. Told me to tell Ryan when I see him again thanks for her. I nodded and told her I wanted to go to bed now.
She kissed me on the head and left the room. I did feel bad how I left him at the movie theater but I couldn't do the movie since it was vampires especially after my dream that I had.
The next day at school, Kenny tried to talk to me about last night. I told him I didn't want to talk about it. Told him that I wanted to be left alone.
At lunch, when all my friends were at the lunch table, instead of sitting down with them, I went to another table with my food and sat alone. They all looked at me like what the hell was I doing sitting alone or not sitting with them. I saw Ryan and Adrian come into the cafeteria. Adrian went on to get his food and Ryan came over to me.

"Hey, are you good?" He asked me.
"Yeah, I just want to be alone. After last night, I know I hurt him but tell me this, why don't I feel bad about it. The movie scared the living hell out of me but the way I left him, I don't feel one remorse about it." I told him.
"Well maybe you're not in love with him like you think you are. Maybe because he's your friend, you're moving to fast that you haven't caught up to what he wants or because y'all are friends your thinking that you rather want it to stay in the friend zone."
"Speaking of experience are you?" I asked.
"Guilty as charge." He told me.

As we were talking Adrian walked over to us. He looked at me then Ryan.

"Are we sitting here today or are we sitting where with the rest of our gang?" Adrian asked.
"Up to you." Ryan said. "But I'm gonna get me some food." Ryan told him then looked at me. "Just tell him how you feel and break it off. You never know the right person could be standing right in front of you." Ryan said then walked away leaving Adrian and me staring at each other confused on what he just said.

I waved my hand down at the table so Adrian could sit down. He looked to his right for a moment before he sat down making em look to my left. When I did, I saw Kenny and the rest of my friends look our way. For some reason, I thought I saw Adrian smile some right as he sat down across from me.
Kenny looked pissed at what just happened but I had no words for that. Lilly just smiled at me. I already knew what she was thinking about this.
A few moments later, Ryan came over with his food and sat next to Adrian. He pushed his tray in front of me and told me to have whatever. When I looked, he had enough food for like 3 people. I looked up at him then over at Adrian. Adrian shrugged his shoulders at that.
A few days had passed. And I still haven't said anything to Kenny. As I was walking out of the school to head over to the car, my mom gave me the car today since she was home sick, as I got to the car, I went to open the door to get in when Kenny had came over and put his hand on the door and shut it close. I looked up at him, somewhat pissed off at what he just did.
