Shane's pov

I walked in the room music feeling my ears as people were dancing on the floor. I looked at the bar and saw that Nika was with Alleyne again. I clenched my jaw before looking around to see if anyone else I knew had arrived. I wanted to distract myself over the fact that Nika was here with that asshole. I then spotted Brooke and Ava chatting with some other girls. I waved at them and they smiled at me signaling for me to go over there. "Welcome to your first official dance Brocker" Ava said making me chuckle. I shook my head laughing before looking away. "Your girl is here y'know? She's with that pussyboy Alleyne" Ava said making me chuckle at the nickname. "Yeah I know I saw her. She's not my girl Ava just leave it okay? I wanna have a good time tonight" I said and they all cheered for my decision. Truth is she would be the only thing going through my mind tonight but I am trying to play it cool for now. After a while we decided to get a drink and go find the others. Although my mind was always going back to the brunette that had stole my peace I knew I had to to try and at least pretend she doesn't have an effect on me. That was the hard part. "I don't know man it hasn't been that long since I first joined the team" I replied to Azzi with whom I was having a conversation about the difficulties of being a new member in a team. "I mean they are really great and have made me feel like family so I really don't regret coming here" I explained as I caught with the corner of my eye Nika and Alleyne fighting. I figured it wasn't my place so I decided to leave it for now. I knew Nika could handle herself. But when I saw that he was going off limits I excused myself before going towards them "what seems to be the problem here?" I asked. Being a few inches taller than alleyne I found it funny that he would pick a fight with me. "Nothing that might concern you I'm talking to my girl" he said making me laugh a bit. "First of all she's not your girl y'all just happened to hook up so chill out. Secondly you need to calm down a bit mister macho" I said making him back off. "Fine then. Nika I'm done. Good luck finding someone that can take care of your personality like I did. You'll be begging me to come back and I won't" he said not leaving. I let out a laugh "listen pal Nika deserves to be with someone that can make her cum properly cause believe me when I tell you she had to fake it with you every time. Good luck finding a good girl like Nika who will take up your shitty ass. Now leave before I whoop your ass so hard you will be limping at practice" and with that he left furious. Nika was too stunned to speak. "thank you Shane" she said making me look at her with a smile "Don't worry about it. Just try find someone a tad better next time" it killed me to say it knowing it probably wouldn't be me the one she would pick but before I could let my emotions slide out I told her I would go to the girls and that she should take care. As I returned Azzi gave me the biggest side eye of my life as I explained what happened. She hyped me up and said that she would be in my arms in no time but I really didn't want to think of her only as sex. I am really afraid that I might have started to like her a lot more than intended. A few hours passed and the girls had gone off to the dancefloor with either their partners or new people who they had decided to flirt with. I didn't really want to dance with anyone so I decided to stay to the bar and sip on my drink while the others dance. As I looked around and saw all the couples dancing lovingly and enjoying themselves I was a little jealous not gonna lie. I couldn't help but notice that Nika was nowhere to be found on the dancefloor with some boy or girl so I wanted to look for her afraid that something might've happened to her. After a few minutes I saw her standing alone at the corner of the room with a drink on her hand. I approached her slowly with curiosity wanting to know why she was all alone in a party like this. "Hey" she said as she saw me with a small smile. I was taken aback that she greeted me first but I didn't show it. "hi there. How are you?" I asked as I leaned to the wall with my drink in my hand "a bit sad. Alleyne came back and told me more shit than before and left me standing here. He said I'll never be good enough to be in a relationship no matter what you say and he said that I know it very well." she said not once looking at me in the eyes. I could see she was a bit hurt but I didn't say anything not wanting to bring it up more. "That is one fucking asshole" I said earning a laugh from her making me smile at her. "listen none of what that pussyboy said was true. I know for a fact that you're more than enough and that you are capable of being loved. Many people would be lucky to have you as their partner. You shouldn't listen to someone who can't fullfil women's desires. I mean come on look at how gorgeous you are" I said trying to make her mood brighten up a bit. Which I did as I could see a small smile make it's way up to her face. Just then the dj switched the songs to slow dancing ones which gave me an idea. I took her drink and placed hers and mine on the bar as I extended my arm at her "my lady it would be an honor if you wanted to dance with me" I said seriously earning a loud laugh from her before she asked me if I was being serious. I nodded and she took my hand hesitantly as I pulled her towards me. We slowly swayed our hips to the music as wicked game was echoing through the speakers. "I should warn you I don't dance well" she said as I made her make a turn "Does it look like I care?" I said as I pulled her towards me once again with a smile and she shook her head with a smile. "That asshole must be real stupid to leave you while looking like this" I said as she clearly blushed. She was wearing a long black dress that hugged her curves properly while the back was open. Gold earrings and a necklace very beautiful. She placed her head on my chest as I placed mine on top of hers. I smiled at the feeling of her hearing my heartbeat. "I really love this song actually" she said as she pulled away and looking up to me a bit "Seriously? I had you for a RnB kinda girl." She laughed softly before saying "I like RnB more I just like this song" I smiled nodding as I made her turn around one more time before placing my hands in her hips while she hooked her hands on my neck. We slowly swayed to the beat as we didn't dare to look away from each other. I became hyper aware of the girl that was in my hands and suddenly felt like the slightest sudden move would break her. As the song died down we stood there as she smiled at me. I was honestly lost in her eyes but I would never admit it. I pulled her away from the crowd as we went and got new drinks before settling in a corner of the room. "Thank you. For the dance" she said hesitantly. I couldn't help but smile at the way she thought that the dance was something big "of course. I couldn't leave you without a dance on our first dance right? It would be cruel of me" i said making her laugh. God that laugh. I loved that laugh. I smiled at her before sipping on my drink looking out to find our friends. I spotted Ava and Azzi taking pictures of me and Nika while laughing and giving thumbs up making me smile to myself knowing that they definably had a video of us dancing. "You're really beautiful Nika. You should never allow to anyone change your perspective of yourself. Never allow someone to make you think you are not gorgeous" I said making her visibly blush as she looked at me in awe. My heart melted as she reacted like I told her that she was the only girl in the world. "Thank you so much Shane. I really don't know what I can do to repay you for the dance tonight. It really meant a lot to me" she said and I frowned before saying "you don't owe me anything Niks. It was a pleasure to dance with a beautiful woman like you" I said and she hugged me in response. I was surprised at first but after a few seconds I hugged her back making her tighten her grip at me. I could tell that she needed this hug a lot more than I did. "Thanks" she said as she pulled back. "What do you say we go for a drive?" I offered wanting nothing more than to spend more time with her. She smiled hard and nodded. I gave her my hand to hold and dragged her outside. I opened the door for her and after she got in I got to the driver's seat. "So where we going?" I asked and she seemed to think about it for a while. "How about we just drive around for a bit then head back to mine?" She offered and I gladly accepted it. She put on some music and we drove off doing circles around the town. I could catch her steal glances from time to time which made me smile. The roof of the car was down and she seemed so excited. So free. I loved seeing her like that. She laughed and enjoyed every moment of our ride making me laugh as well. She makes it so easy to fall for her I am getting concerned about if I'll get hurt.
